A better definition to use (before you get yourself in trouble ;-) with that one) is the legal definition of rape.

Notice that the current (ie, subject to change) legal definition removes the use of physical duress - therefore including the possibility of mental or emotional duress with no physical threat - and includes any person and that the precise definition can vary by location.

I believe that some US locales still do limit rape to woman-as-victim and some legal resources do the same (further down that same page), but you would have to research your own area to know for sure.

Just remember: It is better to know the law before you break it.

dictionary definition =/= legal definition.

You don't change the definitions of words just because you don't like the current one. How about you come up with your own word for people to use?

At least - in most jurisdictions - legal reforms have made rape a gender neutral offense.

This is the law in the UK, rape is a man only crime.

Rape: Legal Definition

The Legal definition is found in s.1 Sexual Offences Act 2003

(1) A person (A) commits an offence if: (a) he intentionally penetrates the vagina, anus or mouth of another person (B) with his penis,

(b) B does not consent to the penetration, and

(c) A does not reasonably believe that B consents.

(2) Whether a belief is reasonable is to be determined having regard to all the circumstances, including any steps A has taken to ascertain whether B consents.

Rape as a crime can only be committed by men, see above s.1.1 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 – “with his penis”. However while women cannot commit Rape she can be an accomplice to Rape.

Thus Rape excludes the use of instruments/ tools or other parts of the body, e.g. dildos or fingers. The use of a tool/instrument would make it the offence of Sexual Assault under s.3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003

I would suggest the recent case of the 36 year old women who fucked the 12 year old boy almost 200 times is a rapist. She even called herself a rapist, she only got 9 years, if the genders were reversed and it was a 36 year old man and a 12 year old girl everyone knows they would have gotten life.

let me put it this way; if I was a 12 year old boy, wanting to look up a word to describe my sexual assault, I'd continue my silence if I saw this gendered definition.

Let feminists concern themselves with dictionary.com definitions. What we need to focus o are the actual legal definitions of the various states.
