I Failed My Driving Test

I blew it on my 17th birthday. To this day I don't know how. But I did. Man was that a kick in the teeth. But I doubled my efforts, and passed on the second run 3 months later. I feel I did poorly on second and was near perfect on first. Shrug. That's the way it goes.

Most people i know (including myself) failed their first one no biggie , just remember to exaggerate all of your safety maneuvers so that there's no room for the tester to overlook your actions (looking in the mirror, checking both ways, etc.) and now you know what to expect so your nerves shouldn't be an issue this time around. It doesn't mean anything. A driving test isn't a test to see how well you can drive - its a test to see how well you can play the role of a 'safe driver'

I've been driving for about twelve years now,5x a week, and I'm good at it. I would probably still fail my driving test, if I did it again. No one drives like they do on those tests.

If you haven't gone through actual lessons, do it. Not because you need to know how to drive but because a good instructor will tell you exactly what to do to pass your test.

Check mirrors every few seconds with exaggerated head turns, stay exactly on the speed limit even if its against the flow of traffic, come to a hard stop at stop lights [that means at least 3 seconds of the car being stationary], keep your hands at 10 and 2, and don't make left-turns unless any approaching cars are far away [because some instructors will ping you even if you had plenty of time]. Also, drive an automatic.

I blew my first driving test even though I knew I had the ability nessecary to past. I got too nervous and self conscious which lead to failing. Re-took it a month or two later and passed just fine.

You know what to expect and more than likely pass this time.

Did you take lessons? Those 10 hour driving classes in the US are helpful if you find a good school. GOt a perfect score. In europe can be much harder

I passed mine but I'm from a place where at the time you have to have a permit for 6 months and something like 40 hours behind the wheel in a driver's ed program. And the guys who ride with you in drivers ed really harp on everything the DMV is going to be looking for. Plus you have to sit in the back while two other learners are doing their lesson, and listen to the instructor harp some more.

Anyways, point being, that was way more of a huge pain in the ass than just not passing the first test and trying again in a month. No worries, how you handle little set backs is part of what makes you a man; not simply having continual success.

Go the day before test and follow the instructors when they leave the parking lot but give some distance. Learn the routes and practice them
