Do you engage in doomscrolling? What do you do to shift your mind on to more positive things?

I used to greatly enjoy following current events. But I quit following the news online YEARS ago. For a while I tried to avoid the garbagification of news by controlling what I consumed. I was sticking to specific topical sites like ars technica(which then got gawkered and never recovered) or consumerist(which got bought and shitcanned gee weird.) I focused on interactive aggregators like reddit and fark where even when news was negative or untrue, there were usually better perspectives on it in the comments. But the world has gotten more negative, the perspectives offered in the news have become less diverse, and the choice of sites to get news from has been decimated. In addition, aggregators have lost their usefulness because of political divisions excluding one or more entire viewpoints.

I just got tired of dealing with all of it and stopped clicking. There's no reliable source for information, so why keep reading mis-information?
