At Whole Foods earlier when I was getting on-line to pay, in a section nearby where they had some kids' stuff, there was an illustrated children's book titled (I believe) Anything She Wants To Be and it had written on it Girls Can Be Anything, featuring artwork depicting a young girl as an astronaut. Now providing inspirational and empowering material for young girls is fine, but what about boys? There's so much material that caters to girls that empowers and inspires them, and so little for boys. It's another example of how boys in our society are not only overlooked but outright forgotten and neglected. Boys are taught girls are superior and are to be respected no matter what and how being male automatically makes you a bad person and it takes girls to fix that. It's such a terrible, backwards message that promotes anything but equality. It also doesn't help with how badly boys for decades have been struggling in the school and educational system largely due to special and preferential treatment girls always get. If the author of this book has also made or will make a book to inspire boys what they want to be then great, equality achieved by appealing to and empowering both boys and girls alike. But only girls? Not equality but more gender pandering and bias.
