In Singapore boys can be canned in school (male criminals and soldiers too, but let's focus on school canning). Under no circumstance girls are canned. During the canning the boy wears his sport pants (thin pants). The canning is usally in private (the boy, the principal and one or two teachers) but it can be carried out in public for "serious offense". When carried in public, (usually in front of classmates), girls can leave the class if it is emotionally too much to endure for them. Yes, they treat boys as animals but take all the precaution toward girls.

When canning was discussed, this is the singaporean delegation's answer:

"The delegation stressed that Singapore did not consider corporal punishment to be a form of torture or inhuman and degrading treatment.  It was prohibited in child homes and allowed in schools and homes but only as a last resort.  When carried out carefully it could be very effective.  Canning could only be carried out on males and only be applied under well-defined procedures.  The Government was investing in educating parents and educators about alternative behaviour management techniques"

Discrimination against children out of marriage and children of lgbt couples is talked about. Discrimination against girls about the "muslim act". But the the fact that boys were the only ones canned at school was not. The fact that only teenage boys who broke the law can be canned by the court was not.
