Full disclosure, I'm not a yank but was doing some reading about the - inhumane - US healthcare system and a weird quirk occured to me.
In almost half of states (18), circumcision is covered by medicaid, while the provisions for 'severe mental illness' is almost non existent, including the federal IMD exclusion. This seems absolutely insane to me and is a good example of a broken, for profit system that gives more weight to profit than good health outcomes.
The 'price' of performing a circumcision is set at between $1,100 and $2,000. Not a bad return on 5-10 minutes of work. The price for thorough mental health care could be anything, but would certainly involve much more care, attention and long term check ups.
So much for 'the invisible hand' and competition driving down costs and providing care to those most in need.

I'd like to know how much they sell the harvested foreskins for? Ladies cosmetics, medical research.

Christ, that explains it! So they charge about $2000.00, and the hospital collects $8000.00! Women and their god damned makeup. I thought I had read that the tissues are also used to manufacture interferon, which as I recall is outrageously expensive.
Parents should get their son's tissue to destroy or dispose, as they see fit. Do they have any use for adult male's foreskin? Not that it applies in my case but are they used for organ donations?
