I have always considered the concept of hate crimes a bad mistake for the justice system. But if you are going to have hate crimes for misogyny, why not misandry?

The reasons for this are pretty obvious IMO: feminists have used anti-male language and made sexist generalizations about men for decades, and they know that if misandry is made a hate crime, men will start demanding the law punish them for doing this. They don’t want to have to stop demonizing men, as it’s always been integral to how feminists advocate for women.

Reading that, the issue seems to be that she simply doesn't actually know what misandry is. She attempts to define misandry as anything that emphasises societies requirement for men to be masculine. As far as I can recall, that is the root of toxic masculinity and has nothing to do with misadnry. Misandry is the hatred of men and actions arising from that. A good example would be the recent tv show in Australia where feminists were allowed to go on and advocate for violence against men in the streets because men are bad.

If we can so easily define bad chat up lines, unwanted touches on the shoulder, and criticisms of female behaviours as "misogyny", why do feminists such as her have such a hard time finding any examples anywhere, ever, of the hatred of men?

On a separate note, it never ceases to amaze me the confidence and gall with which this rich, white, middle to upper class white women consistently punch down whilst looking up when they go on about privilege. You can't be living a life of utmost privilege whilst complaining about being oppressed by the same people you laud it over

Attempts to make misandry the equivalent of misogyny rely on two misconceptions: first, that gender is a spectrum as opposed to a hierarchy; and second, that victimhood is in fact a source of power and privilege.

Is this person claiming that gender is a hierarchy? What does that even mean?

To ask that the negative side-effects of being a member of the oppressor class be granted the same status as those of being a member of the oppressed class is to miss the point.

Oh never mind, she is just running a marathon in the oppression Olympics. This lady is off her rocks on the "how can I claim I am not privileged, and all that I don't like are".

As a feminist, I confess that I am not happy about this. I am also well aware of the way in which such unhappiness will be perceived by many. Typical feminist, right? I say I want equality, but I actually want special treatment. I say I think women are strong, but I actually want them to be weak. I say feminism isn’t about hating men… but actually, it is.

I am familiar with all of these arguments, and the way in which they are used, time and again, to recast women’s demands for recognition of their unequal status as requests for validation of their victimhood. It seems there’s nothing women can have – not even their status as a marginalised sex class – that men will not expect them to share.

And where are those all-loving feminists calling this woman out on her bad behaviour?

Edit: People like her is the reason why feminism having a bad name isn't an misconception, or misunderstanding.

Edit: I take solace in the fact that thankfully, most commenters in UK seems to agree.
