Interesting video discussing how common female-on-male violence actually is and how our society defends female abusers and leaves male victims of female abuse out in the cold, even mocks them for being victimized. Women are featured in the video openly admitting to having a double standard and feeling fine about it.

We need programs and shelters for male abuse victims and probably awareness campaigns that target women, letting them know that it's not okay for them to be violent abusers either. This double-standard about violence is a central problem in combating domestic violence, and it's one feminists and other DV activists have clearly demonstrated they have no real interest in changing (to wit, they have historically minimized the problem of female-on-male abuse and fought against people trying to bring the issue to light).

Men and boys need to be taught not to tolerate female violence, to leave relationships in which they are abused, and to speak out against said violence and the double-standards our society presently reinforces. We need legislation and police policy that counteracts the damaging effects of the Duluth Model feminists put forward in the 1970's, so that police are trained not to arrest male victims when they report being abused. Sadly, none of this is going to happen unless male victims start speaking up and defy attempts to silence them. It's not fair to place the burden on them, but no one else is going to speak up for them in large enough numbers to make a difference. This is why we need to start teaching young men and boys not to tolerate female violence. This sort of change takes a generational shift; it's not going to happen until there's a generation of men raised to believe their physical safety matters just as much as women's.

are there any sources for the rates of female on male violence compared to male on female? i know the video had some numbers, but i always like to be able to fact check this kinda thing.

also, lets not forget that domestic violence still happens in same sex relationships as well as in opposite sex ones. male on male and female on female violence is also an issue and while this community may not be the one to adress that specifically, it does need addressing and probably needs tackling differently to opposite sex violence.
