Why do so many men (including many MRAs) accept the paradigm that says that, on the one hand, "shitholes", poor impoverished wretched uncivlized countries, fundamentalist religious irrational uneducated countries, brutal countries with no welfare or any safety nets, are somehow "male-friendly", "male-dominated", run by men for men, based on male imperative, while, on the other hand, the wealthy prosperous luxurious countries, rational scientific countries, the "nice" countries, countries with safety nets, are somehow "pro-female", "matriarchal", based on female imperative and so on?
Isn't this paradigm insulting to men, especially MRAs, especially men who fight for rights and also DIGNITY of men?
Why should we accept that everything nasty ugly irrational stupid violent fundamentalist is somehow "male", and everything nice beautiful rational egalitarian educated is somehow "female"? (Because this is what we are doing by accepting this dumb paradigm.)
Was it women who invented science? Who invented philosophical systems that promote equality, solidarity? Who invented welfare state and public education? Who first challenged powerful religious structures? Who designed all those beautiful buildings?

Another problem, another reason why people think this way is their stupidity and ignorance about Islam. Many people are convinced that Islamic counties are the poorest countries in the world and, since they are also convinced that Islamic countries mistreat women the most, they make the "obvious" connection and conclude that mistreatment of women and poverty go hand in hand and that empowerment of women and wealth also go hand in hand.
There are many problems with this.
1)Islamic countries are not the poorest in the world. Typical Islamic countries (Arab countries, Iran and Turkey) are middle income and some are super rich.
2)Mistreatment of women in Islam is, well, complicated.
3)Even if we accept that Islam is misogynistic, the funny thing is that Islamic countries that are the most famous for their (supposed) misogyny are actually quite rich!

Nope. According to World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report, the 10 most "misogynist" countries are Jordan, Oman, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Mali, Chad, Syria, Pakistan, Yemen.
Of these countries, two are quite rich, Saudi Arabia and Oman. Jordan, Syria, Iran and Lebanon are middle income. Pakistan is poor, but not too poor.
Only Chad, Mali and Yemen are super poor.

Hey, tamen. I remember your name from various blogs, comment sections, forums... Didn't know you're here on reddit.
Regarding that last link, with EU countries, Did you see how surprised they were that "patriarchal" countries (It,Bu,Cy) ended up being more "misandric" and less "misogynistic" than the enlightened feminist northern ones?
