Ive this thing, this quirk

I cannot keep watching a show once i see the female experience misrepresented. I dont care if its a good show. I dont care how deep and moving the male characters are.

So now i was watching fargo (the series). Spoiler alert.

So the main female lead is great, especially the nuances the actress inserted into her role.

Anyways, i judge the quality of a show based on its secondary characters, the places where investing effort and thought is less rewarding. Ill focus on two characters: lester's wife, and lester's second wife - who both had a covertly abusive partner. But we dont get to see lester being covertly abusive, we only see him being abused by first wife and cuddled by second. All we get is a situation that might have been a force of nature or some inherent female trait - a woman behaving in a foolish way towards her husband, being assasinated. I get not everything can be inserted in a show but when you leave out that part, you make a tragedy (that is still painfully common irl everywhere in the world) and make it into a rowdy joke. The nagging wife getting the hammer. In a show that proclaims to be all about unique and nuanced portraits, close-knit communities and the slow pace of living in remote places. Im mad.

When a woman is lowered to nagging her husband, constantly comparing him to his brother (1st wife), when she covers for his suspicious behaviour because he gave her a carrot (2nd wife, the carrot being a trip to an exotic country), thats a sign for covert abuse, mind games, neglect and negging. I WANT TO SEE IT. But i dont think the writers want to acknowledge it themselves because they sure dont care to take the time to show it. All they want to show are tropes - "the nagging wife", "the greedy wife". And i find it very disturbing both wives meet their violent end due to their "vices" in a mythological crescendo.

Im sick of men who seem so hv, lecturing me on how im not appreciating the way media showcases the female experience. And i dont get to say they did a bad job cause a pregnant woman is solving murders how quirky and inclusive and not a circus act at all.

One of the main plot strains is all about a female cup struggling to advance in the workplace dou to tragedy and dumb bosses who are threatened by her. secondary is the one as old as time about eve and the apple. Thanks, i hate it.
