Recently, my mother has changed my outlook and thoughts about marriage.

I used to think that after a year into a relationship, you can ask about marriage. My thought is that if he gives you reply that is along the lines of anything other than a resounding yes you have to leave him ASAP.

Also, if he says yes, he has to follow through and propose within three years and married in two. Otherwise, you’ll end up a forever girlfriend or fiancé.

My mother’s thoughts are different. She believes that if you are compatible with him, and you like him, 6 months would be more than enough and that if he doesn’t marry you in three years, you can dump him.

In her words, a year is too long and it would make it hard for you to leave someone because so much time has been invested. She even said that you can start by asking him a simple question where he sees our future.

She believes that a women’s times is precious. As women get older, they’ll spend less time dating a man, not because they are running out of time, but they can’t be bothered investing their time and energy to someone that doesn’t show commitment into being with them.
