We live in an age of no fault divorce. Despite what “plankton” tries to claim, this means a marriage can be dissolved simply because one party (usually the woman) decides she wants to move on. With a no fault divorce, cheating is really immaterial. My former doctor was taken to the cleaners by his ex and she was carrying on an affair and ultimately left him for that guy.

It would depend upon local laws, and on whether you had a prenuptial.

These days there are judges who go beyond the law and side with the women.

Women initiate 80% of divorces. Men stand to lose half their money and the house.

If you dont live in a no fault state AND have a bullet proof prenup, maybe you don't have to pay alimony. But who cheated is immaterial.

Don't get married if you want to protect your money. And if your state is common law, don't live together.

Hire a local, well-regarded, attorney that specializes in family law. Don't try and go cheap, don't let cost dictate your choice. Ask that attorney.

Laws on divorce, alimony, child support, etc. vary by state. Every state has different laws that are applied, if you don't have a valid, enforceable prenuptial agreement then the state where the divorce is filed will apply their laws. And laws change all the time.

Get a prenuptial agreement properly drafted and executed before marriage or you could get stuck with a situation you never contemplated.

In India it depends upon judge.... Sometimes she's gets alimony until next marriage
