How strong is the height preference of women and how short do you have to be for it to work against you when dating women especially women who are attractive?

I always thought the height preference was kind of a strange one . Cause men taller than six foot are rare since they only make up about 15 -20 percent of the male population . Do average height men really get shafted or is that just reddit being dramatic . Though I do see plenty of short men in relationships it's kind of rare that I see a short guy with an attractive girl .
