I see there's a misconception about coercion. Some of the tactics used by PUA, are coercive, and some novice guys may use these tactics. Also, some women that have difficulty dating/connecting with men, may submit to coercion due to inexperience or vulnerability.
Non threatening coercion is when someone continues to use verbal non threatening pressure to get sex, after being initially rejected. Eventually the person may give consent to get it over with, or appease the other person, or just get them to stop asking. I've seen this topic come up on various platforms, and people saying that it's Rape.
They're wrong, is it immoral or sleazy? Absolutely it is, dies it meet the legal definition of Rape, or sexual assault? No it doesn't. Of course some of you are going to say I'm wrong, to that I suggest you check your state laws, because I'm not. When the law talks about coercion. It is referring to bribery, blackmail, threats of harm to an individual, or a loved one. If you are not under duress, it will not count.
Example: You're in a room at a frat party. A guy is pressuring you for sex. You say no, not tonight. He gets up and stands in front of the door, blocking the exit. Continues to ask rapidly, and won't let you leave, or if he takes your phone, and will not allow you to call someone. That is duress, even though he's not physically threatening you. If you say yes to get out of that situation, that's coercive rape.
Example 2 You're in a room at a frat party, a guy is pressuring you for sex, you say no, not tonight. He keeps asking you. You don't want to be perceived as a prude, and you don't want the social pressure of being ostracized by the Greek system. So after 30 mins of asking, you give in, and say yes. That's not rape, even though mentally it feels like.
I'm bringing this up, because it's important to understand. If you give in to non threatening coercion, you will not have a legal recourse. You will experience another form of rape that comes from not having any justice for what feels like Rape. Women, if you say no 27 times, but yes on the 28th, that still counts as freely given consent,, as long as it wasn't under duress.Giving in is not a survival tactic that will protect you in these instances. It feels kinda like a weird psyop that so many places are saying coercion is SA, kinda like some cabal is trying to make it easier for people to get away with Rape by spreading misinformation. We need to teach Women to say no, and don't stop saying no! We need to teach men, that No means No!
