I was thinking from the title that they finally called it a rape for a female perpetrator and a male victim, but no, it was a female victim, still just as bad for the kid. I hope she gets a lengthy sentence for it.

[–]cliffbot 120 points121 points122 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Ain't that something. Rape when the victim is a girl but not for when the victim is a boy.

[–]InformalCriticism 38 points39 points40 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The world is mad, but you have to look if you want to see it. Most people don't look, so they can say they don't see it.

Ignorance is bliss

[–]Solid-Perspective98 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I believe she was charged for abetting rape. It is legally impossible for a woman to be charged with rape as a first party.

[–]TheHunterGallopher 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That is now false.

The definition of rape per DOJ is “the penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object… or oral w/ sex organ… without consent of the victim”.

The legal definition has been updated since 2012.

*on mobile so format may be odd.

[–]ijustdontcare74 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The story is from the UK, DOJ has nothing to do with this case. UK law says a male cannot be raped by a woman, which is utterly crazy. Men's rights groups here are actively trying to get this absurdity changed.

[–]TheHunterGallopher 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow, I always thought the UK was a bit ahead of the curve compared to the US when it comes to things like this. That actually really saddens me to hear that, especially as a male rape survivor.

I hope y’all over the pond can make those changes. I must’ve not picked up the UK part reading the article.

[–]Solid-Perspective98 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm referring to the jurisdiction of the UK. Rape is explicitly gender-specific under the Sexual Offences Act.

[–]dgl6y7 33 points34 points35 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Wait so her name is Morris and the co-defendants name is Morris but they're not related? Is there two separate victims? Also they said the charges have nothing to do with her employment. So it wasn't a student?

I'm so confused with the story.

[–]ShitLordOfTheRings 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The boyfriend happens to have the same family name.

There was only one victim who was raped several times by the two of them.

I found an article with more details, but I won't link to it, as it disgustingly attempts to paint Ms Morris as a victim, without the slightest evidence for that being the case:

Ms. Morris was an RE and Maths teacher, as well as being the Deputy Headteacher, at St. George’s Central Church of England Primary School in Tyldesley when the alleged crimes took place. The victim (13), however, is believed to attend a different school as children in England move to Secondary School from age 11.

As well as a subject teacher and Deputy Head, Julie Morris was also one of three staff who fulfil roles as Child Protection Officers. This means that Ms. Morris was responsible for ensuring that 340 children were safe from abuse of all kinds and that the correct procedure was followed relating to any child safety concerns.

Julie Morris was charged with aiding and abetting the rape of a girl under 13 and inciting sexual activity with a child under 13.

Thanks for the details, terrible as they are.

Amazing how they always forget to call these women what they are - pedophiles

[–]EastVanMarco 62 points63 points64 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Women have been getting away with this historically due to the double standard. Nice to see justice being served these days.

[–]Zestyclose-Coast-323 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah the woman who literally GAVE HER CHILD to Ian Watkins with a message about his being ready to be abused got a lighter sentence becuase she was easily lead or some such utter bollocks.

[–]GhettoGringo87 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Worst article I've ever read. Three facts about the case just repeating over and over

[–]Zestyclose-Coast-323 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Daily Mail - you're lucky it didn't involve a 'life hack' stolen from Facebook about an Australian woman who has discovered paint and shitty stick on plastic and spent $100 on revamping her kitchen instead of $10000 on a new one that wont look like shit in 6 months.

[–]dan4daniel 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Standing by for her lengthy six month sentence with time served.

[–]sensuallyprimitive 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yeah, i wonder what the sentencing will be with all those charges. probably rage inducing.

[–]MelkorHimself 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]Zestyclose-Coast-323 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That should trigger a sentence uplift. Big girl pants on and show some self respect.

[–]Miserable-Lemon 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Note how she was perfectly fine raping that kid, the tears only came when she had to face consequences

[–]Zestyclose-Coast-323 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

'Tears'. It always amazes me how so many of these women who cry in public don't run their mascara, and somehow don't end up with puffy eyes. Almost as if they fake it.

Promoting violence is against site rules. Don't do it, no matter how much you think they deserve it.

[–]DynamicHunter 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The media will do anything with a female perpetrator but call it rape or call her a sexual abuser/rapist/pedo, but not for men.

[–]ijustdontcare74 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'll accept a PPD when we see the sentencing. Whats the bet she gets a much lighter sentence than her male counterpart even though the crimes are very similar?

[–]anon517 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Why is she crying?

Does she not believe that she was committing heinous crimes?

Does she really feel disappointment and sorry for her own situation rather than guilt for the tragedy of the children here?

Jesus, how can she CRY? How little responsibility for your actions can you possibly feel and still be a human being?

Look, I get you can be seriously disappointed in being caught for committing a crime. But you don't cry if you have any kind of actual soul. She should get an extra sentence for the audacity to cry. Unbelievable.

[–]pinguscout 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She is crying because she got caught. Otherwise she would keep on commiting rape

[–]sensuallyprimitive 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

crying because her life is over due to some stupid sexual urges

[–]No-Sir-2405 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The only reason why she didn’t get away with it is because the victim was a female.

[–]MatthewofHouseGray 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

From what I understand the woman is just an accomplice, tagged for aiding and abetting rape of a minor.

Isnt the real rapist the other Morris? I think its crazy both of them were charged for rape but the dide isnt even in the pictures

Probably the wrong group to say that stupid shit

[+]RikerT_USS_Lolipop -15 points-14 points-13 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Speaking of wrong places to broach a subject... and I've brought this up before, I really don't like when they take a given act and then divide it up into a dozen different crimes just to maximize sentencing.

This happened in England so I don't know what the deal is there but in the US the Industrial Prison Complex is evil as fuck. They find ways to make money off of prisoners so there are perverse incentives. You can jaywalk and then get slapped with; jaywalking, improper use of federal property, traffic moving violation, pedstrian moving violation, inciting lawlessness, disturbing the peace, etc. Then you're in jail on 10 counts of different shit when you did 1 thing.

I'm cynical as fuck. So maybe it's just me. But I read the list of charges in the article and my brain immediately assumes the worst. I can easily imagine what she actually did was 1/4 what a reader would imagine when they walk away having read all that shit. They are all so conveniently similar. Like 'creating sexualized image of child', 'possession of sexualized image of child', 'possession of extreme pornography' 'distributing sexualized image of child', on and on.

Like, if she told her victim to stick her finger in her butt, took a picture of it, and sent it to her partner (I'm guessing the two criminals are a married couple?) then she would have fulfilled all of those charges in the span of 2 seconds.

Again, reddit is not going to like this comment just because of what thread it's in. But I'm always wary because I know the government introduces this type of behavior against whatever group it's not okay to defend then later expands it. You see the same shit happen when the crime is terrorism. "Yah.. we didn't have a warrant so we took our giant microwave dish mounted on top of a truck and eavesdropped on every phone call that happened in this four block radius. And we got our terrorist! No, no, it's totally cool. It's legal because of a provisional law we enacted one month ago that says the Constitution doesn't apply when it's about terrorism."
