Thousands of dads are left in shock as DIY paternity tests soar. Up to 30,000 tests are being performed every year, says Alphabiolabs. In the UK about 750,000 babies are born every year. Feminists want the test to be illegal without the written consent of the mother.

Mother-of-two, 40, falsely branded a neighbour a sex offender because he 'made too much noise building a guinea pig hutch in his garden'. It seems for many women if they do not get their way they make a false sex allegation knowing a man is not protected by the law.

If I can tell it's a company hiring based off of diversity then no. That tells me the company has a high chance of sucking to work for and that the company might not last long. Hire people based on ability not race or gender. If some one meets both your diversity quota AND is the best applicant in the pool for the job then cool beans. hire that person. Don't shoot down some one better for the position because they are white or male. It's the most asinine thing I've heard of in hiring culture. I'm a black man BTW.

  • Catfights over handbags and tears in the toilets. When this producer launched a women-only TV company she thought she'd kissed goodbye to conflict...
  • Over in one corner sat Alice, a strong-minded 27-year-old who always said what she thought, regardless of how much it might hurt someone else. In the other corner was Sarah, a thirtysomething high-flier who would stand up for herself momentarily - then burst into tears and run for the ladies.

  • Their simmering fight lasted hours, egged on by spectators taking sides and fuelling the anger. Sometimes other girls would join in, either heckling aggressively or huddling defensively in the toilets. It might sound like a scene from a tawdry reality show such as Big Brother, but the truth is a little more prosaic: it was just a normal morning in my office.

  • The venomous women were supposedly the talented employees I had headhunted to achieve my utopian dream - a female- only company with happy, harmonious workers benefiting from an absence of men.

  • [...]

  • Making close to half a million in our first year should have meant profit, but this was wiped out by high salaries and accounting errors by staff. Then, when we began having cash-flow problems, Sarah signed herself off sick with stress for a month. She also confessed she'd been dodging calls from people who were due payment, thus ruining my firm's reputation.

  • By then I was back and forth on a plane between Britain and the U.S. dealing with fractious staff in London and barmy LA producers.

  • My general manager was nowhere to be found, bills hadn't been paid and the tension in the office was palpable.

  • To pump extra cash into the business, I sold both my cars, but it was too late and we went bankrupt in March 2007, less than two years after I'd formed the company.

goddamn

[–]VindictivePrune 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's assuming you can hire people based on ability, and that your own internal biases don't affect your decisions. Which is why you need a diverse (in thoughts and values) hiring board to be able to hire the best person for the job

[–]skymonstef 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's assuming minorities on the hiring board don't use their minority status to brow beat other to submitting to their point of view

[–]SnooBeans6591 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The other people should be able to defend their viewpoint, otherwise they are bad at their job.

  • RICHARD LITTLEJOHN: Would you feel comfortable applying for a job when you know the chips have been stacked against you in advance? Is it coz I is white?

  • White men need not apply. That's the not-so-subtle message from a leading investment company striving to increase its quota of female and ethnic minority staff.

  • Jess McNichols, head of Inclusion, Diversity and Corporate Citizenship at State Street β€” which employs 39,400 people worldwide, including at Canary Wharf, in London β€” said: 'This is now front and central, it's on every executive's scorecard.' They can take that as a threat, not an aspiration.

  • Senior managers who fail to meet targets for BAME and women recruits will have their annual bonuses slashed.

  • Yesterday, the American-owned firm was trying to backpedal, saying it would still hire white males but only after they had been interviewed by a 'diverse' panel including at least one woman and one 'person of colour'.

  • But be honest, chaps. Would you feel comfortable applying for a job when you know the chips have been stacked against you in advance? Why bother?

  • Is it coz I is white?

Don't be silly, it's because you're white and male.

that's why smart men should only work in male dominated industries

those industries where its 70 to 80% percent men this way we can protect ourselves since we have other men to watch our back

[–]SnooBeans6591 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That would require men to watch each others back... arguably not the case - the push for gender parity only exists for male dominated industries. The pressure for this might come from outside, but the men in these industries aren't pushing back in a meaningful enough way.

Funny thing: one of my female colleagues said she preferred to work in male dominated industries, the other one said she never even really noticed that she was in male dominated spaces-

[–]Svenskbtch 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why would you even want to? How well would you feel working in such a company even if you get the job? Take your skills and talents to where they are useful and appreciated.

[–]Rol9x 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, I wouldn't be comfortable at all and the problems is that many jobs in my profession are advertised as "encouraging people from a diverse background (=BAME) to apply as they are not well-represented". Luckily, I am not looking for a job for the next 4 years, but it is off-putting to see that they do this. Sometimes I feel like I should start a new business and hire whoever the fuck is better equipped for the job. 🀬

Smfhl. White dudes whining about having to actually compete for jobs is both sad and fucking HILARIOUS at the same time. Try living as black man for 6 months most of you would be ready to eat a bullet.
