Portrayal of men/boys in pop culture

This is literally every Netflix show. There have been a lot of posts lately about men and boy characters being granted no 'grace' from writers. I mostly only watch Netflix, so to me, as a studio, their shows are the most glaring, but I can imagine other studios are equally bad.

I get it, for decades, women were portrayed extremely myopically in movies and shows. They were one-dimensional housewives, secretaries, and love interests. However, they weren't flawed morally or characteristically. Female characters in the '60s probably didn't inspire a lot of female watchers, but they also didn't make them feel shitty about themselves. A boy watching TV now is being damaged by the portrayal of male characters.

I recently watched 'Jungle Cruise' and the brother in the movie is a complete wreck; completely incompetent, cowardly, and superficial. His sister (Emily Blunt) is obviously the moral center of the movie while the Rock is the Rock. He's morally just, but not in a serious manner because men can only be just if they are funny. For the brother's character, I thought the allusions to him being stereotypically gay were mildly offensive at the beginning but then he actually comes out as gay towards the end and I was blown away that such a character could be allowed to be written into a children's movie. Should gay men not find that super-offensive that he is such a worthless pansy?

I hate it when people say "the war on XYZ" but there is a real war on boys' self-image and I'm just glad I became comfortable with myself before my sense of self could be warped by Netflix hacks.

The entire media and pop culture basically is mobilizing to keep men submissive and self hating because it’s good for the Left’s agenda

It’s funny. I’ve been complaining about that for a while now, most recently with the new show The Wheel of Time (whatever your politics are, the show is just boring, so it’s skip-able just for that). But I’ve also seen it in just about everything new that has come out: Star Trek: Discovery is another egregious example of this. There were like only two or three hetero male humans on the whole show (their biggest fan base) and they were either evil or just background/supporting characters.

Because they don't like to think about how women often times are significantly worse in many cases. Whenever i see this kind of thing I think back to the amount of times girls were always the most rude and hateful towards me while guys were always nicer.

Netflix writers, you know. Don´t hope from there any good positive portrayal of a man, white person, or heterosexual people. Despite having a CEO who is not female, black, or gay, so in the end, they are just hypocrites who follow the money.

This why i no longer consume western media. I rarely watch tv and when i do its the news, so i take that with a fist full of salt.

This started in the late 80 early 90 with shows/movies like "full house" and "3 men and a baby" with fish out of water father achetype having to raise a child with no prior experience going from sole breadwinner to house hudband.

This is all well and good.

However it devolved into the bumbling man child dad achetype. Like Hall from malcolm in the middle.

Other shows followed suit. Please note that if there is kids involved, the son is most likely a moron bothering a vegetable. While the daughter is booksmart.

This phenomenon has bled into commercials aswell. Where the wife/mom or grandmother always knows the answer. While Husband/dad or grandfather feel like they come from the black and white section of a teleshopping channel.

At this point it literally disgustst me
