I will say Costco has an AMAZING return policy on jewelry. I upgraded my diamond earrings 2x and it was an easy return. Makes sense why he would buy there, you can return jewelry literally whenever.

If he buys on the cheaper side I can see how a wife can overlook $400 on the statement but any diamond of a good size should draw a red flag. If your boy is spending over 1k at Costco… he’s def bought jewelry.

They buy such trinkets, because they can. Because we allow them to. Because they have pushed three standards upon us about gift giving :

Men are bad at gift giving, clueless who wants what. The real explanation is, that they don't care about anyone else's needs and wants. They don't listen and they definitely are not paying attention.
The assumption is, that if you are not appreciative of this garbage, you are a gold digger. But as with everything, quality and uniqueness is expensive and it costs. And they're well aware, that this is just trash.
As with everything they do, they want the highest reward after they've invested the littlest effort. In their heads it goes like this: "It's cheap jewelry. It's cheap. But it's jewelry. So this will shut her up for a while."
