A friend of mine is getting divorced and retiring. His wife had long refused to work, so he’s supported her 100%. Originally it looked like they would split everything 50-50 which is more than generous considering she refused to work but as it turns out he will continue to provide additional support out of his 50%. That’s not an equal division. It’s a division favoring the person who contributed less.

No. I have found that any claim the ex makes is honored, and any claim I make is ignored.

Example: She and both converted stock options to buy the house. When the house sold, she was able to recoup every single share she converted, while mine were divided between the two of us. My shares were awarded to me before marriage (2 days before), hers were awarded to her after marriage.

As bassackward as that is, it just didn't matter to the judge. My lawyer didn't lie as well as hers did.

That's one of many instances so far. We're about to roll into retirement and pending shares as well. Outlook is not good.

My ex and I split our real estate property assets 65/35 and she's getting a combined CS/SS that is a bit over 30% of my monthly net income. The total time for that is a few years after which then drops to only CS which the court will decide. She kept 90% of the household stuff which I was 100% ok with. She's low-functioning while I'm high-functioning; so the imbalance in property division is offset by the piece of mind that I am both better off without her burdens dragging me down AND the knowledge that even though she took more my life will always be better than hers.

What I'm about to tell you, is not that much about the division of assets, but it is a horror story nonetheless.

My boyfriend was married once. Had 4 kids with the bitch. 27 years ago they divorced. Of course, she kept all 4 kids and the house. She made so much trouble for him that he lost a police officer job because of her. Oh and he paid full child support for all 4 kids. The cunt made all sorts of false accusations about him and at some point she accused him of never having paid any child support. She tried putting him in prison "because that's where fags belong, happy to be raped by inmates". Fortunately, his family had the foresight to keep all the receipts. She taught the kids to tell him to "hurry up and die, like the disgusting fag that he is". At one point, I heard his daughter call him "an animal". It is clear that my boyfriend didn't like her, so I don't know why he kept fucking her. When I asked him, he shrugged and wouldn't tell me. This is admittedly an assumption on my part, but I suspect he didn't have a choice in the matter of sexual interactions between them, which is why I never pressed for answers.

Fast forward to the fall of 2021. The utter cunt seduced his 91 years old father and put all sorts of shit in the old man's feeble minded head. Bitch convinced the old fart to give her everything he owned, including the land under my boyfriend's house, which my boyfriend built from scratch. She tried making my beloved homeless. I would just love to remove the whore's head through her colon. It got so bad that the old coot attacked my boyfriend, his own son, with a kitchen knife. My beloved and his sister had to call the cops and put the old man in a psych ward for the weekend. After the old guy was sent home from the looney bin, his kids changed his phone number to cut contact with the vile bitch and the old man even canceled the testament that would grant the cunt everything. The bitch sent the police to their door, claiming that my beloved and his sister are kidnapping to old coot. In truth, the old coot was in his own apartment. Fortunately, soon after that the old fart kicked the bucket, medics said it was a heart attack. My boyfriend and his sister discovered that he had plans to make a contract naming the bitch as the sole owner of everything. Fortunately that never came to pass. It was discovered during the funeral that the bitch had a full on affair with the old man. And she let it slip that not all 4 of the kids were conceived with my boyfriend. Though my beloved has always suspected. After the funeral, bitch sent the police to their door once again, claiming that the old coot has died "under suspicious circumstances". Fortunately the medical paper trail provides solid proof. Her last ditch effort to hurt him was sending a text wall message to his sister, accusing him of killing the old coot via heartbreak and wanting to leave me his whole inheritance. In truth, I couldn't give two shits about his inheritance, I just want him to be at peace, knowing that nobody will mess with his home and having a place where we can spend some moments in privacy. But the bitch knows his family is extra homophobic and hate me for dating him and she tried using it to stir trouble between my beloved and his sister. Oh and the old coot? Don't feel sorry for him. He was bad all his life. He made his wife miserable. He was an incredibly garbage simp and man slut. He would often take household resources and spend them on hoes.

I often fantasize about breaking that bitch's head. My beloved is a good man. He taught me how to be a man when my own father didn't. He taught me to groom myself, he got me my first job. He's a good man and doesn't deserve all this shit. It makes me happy that his cunt ex-wife is a miserable single mom and my boyfriend, at nearly 62, has a 32 year old hottie. I'm sure it eats her up inside.

Family courts have gone through a recent period of intense change acknowledging that women should no longer be considered limited to their traditional gender roles. Unfortunately, the courts have doubled-down on the traditional gender roles of men, insisting that archaic laws about men supporting their wives and ex-wives until the mule is dead, must be oreserved and extended.

So you are providing support to her because she looked after you during your marriage. In addition, the court takes the view that she will continue to need you to support her because you are male and she is only female.
