Interesting information, though I dislike the way the site characterizes pornography as inherently harmful.

Some people may develop porn-related problems in their lives, but the vast majority do not.

it is a bad thing. It puts unrelastic standards of sex as if that is normal. It is a proven fact that men and women who view pornography develop addictive like symptoms and are less likely to be satisfied by their wife or husband due to the nature of what Pornography does to the person.

It makes your wife or husband turn into mere objects to just pleasure you and due to how porn goes, you are less likely to get that high effect thanks to what you view and you're unlikely to meet what happens in porn.

[–]AsphaltCuisine 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

Even if those things can happen in some minority of people, they are certainly not universal. The vast majority of people watch porn, including those in healthy relationships. Often they even watch it together.

And while a virgin without much of a social group might develop unrealistic ideas about what sex is like, well, most of us have sex and know full well the differences between sex and porn.

[–]Connect_Sale_1998 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

That is not what I said, I stated it makes you have unrelastic view of sex with your wife or husband and they become like objects as you try to get that high effect. It ruins marriages, it ruins relationship between a husband and wife.

Now something to add:

Porn also effects sex drive, view on your wife or husband's since when viewing porn it's not just the sex acts it's also about the look and how different they are to your wife or husband as you start compairing them to your wife or husband. Now that is just you, it also effects how your husband or wife feel, because viewing pornography breaks the trust in they have in you and confidence of being good of enough to satisfy your sexual desire.

I'm sorry, I just see this all as puritanical nonsense.

When I watch a TV show, I don't expect my wife's behavior to match the characters in the show. When I read a book, I don't expect my wife's behavior to match the characters in the book. When I play a video game, I don't expect my wife to be able to carry seventy different weapons in her pockets.

People can distinguish between fantasy and reality just fine, and you're essentially making the same argument as those that blamed DOOM for Columbine - that people simply have no ability to draw a line between the two.

When I play a video game, I don't expect my wife to be able to carry seventy different weapons in her pockets.

Well, that might be kinda handy sometimes. :-)

[–]Connect_Sale_1998 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

But it's not a fantasy. Sex, porn, watching it repeativly, yeah, this isn't "fantasy" when it comes to viewing it. Porn ruins that aspect of your imagination, because why are you watching porn, what attracts the eye, because every single person who masterbates uses their imagination to imagine a "reality" where you're preforming that act with a someone , or the person you're viewing.

So how can you say "you know reality from fantasy" when you're using your imagination to depict scenarios or realities of your porn. Where it becomes so strong you start seeking it with your wife or husband, and if you get that fix, it increases until if your husband or wife doesn't provide that high effect you will seek someone that will causing tons of trouble. Because believe it or not, imagination is a powerful tool that used wrongfully leads to many of husbands and wives cheating.

[–]AsphaltCuisine 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

because every single person who masterbates uses their imagination to imagine a "reality" where you're preforming that act with a someone , or the person you're viewing.

No, they don't. That isn't how everybody experiences porn. That isn't even how I personally experience porn. My brain is always taking the perspective of watching the video and finding it hot, not the perspective of somehow climbing into the scene and being there.

Much as when I watch Game of Thrones, I'm watching people stab each other to death, not mentally "performing the act" of stabbing people to death.

And when my wife and I watch porn together, we certainly aren't somehow "projecting" ourselves into the scene. We're simply having a shared experience of watching something sexy together.

Then let'a agree to disagree because you have your idea and I have mine.

Then let'a agree to disagree because you have your idea and I have mine.

No, none of the things you post are your ideas. They all come from anti-porn feminism.

[–]Connect_Sale_1998 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Okay, okay, so me suggestioning the Porn destroys view of both men and women and how it objectifys both is a feminist ideal.

But back to the point but I am not a feminist, but if you want proof, took a bit and any agression toward me, I apologize for make you angry.)

But I don't think it will change your mind. As you seem very firm on your opinion and I respect that. I am not directing anything I said towarsa you or your marriage.

But as a tl:dr; porn destroys what makes you happy and you feel less happy on anything sexual unless it's related to porn.

[–]tenchineuro 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I stated it makes you have unrelastic view of sex with your wife or husband and they become like objects as you try to get that high effect.

Have you ever met a real person?

Found the feminist.

As a man who has suffered from severe porn addiction I find you to be just as insensitive as feminists. I would never expect so much disrespect from someone who claims to fight for mens rights.

[–]Connect_Sale_1998 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree, I was talking about how porn changes a person, and other stuff. It makes them anxious, fearful if found out while also angry if they do not get the high.

Not only that but they loose their focus what makes them joyful and they cannot get aroused unless it's porn related and even that might not satisfy the need.

[–]tenchineuro 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

As a man who has suffered from severe porn addiction

People get addicted to all manner of things, but this is a personal issue with them, it's not that chocolate or whatever is the problem.

I find you to be just as insensitive as feminists. I would never expect so much disrespect from someone who claims to fight for mens rights.

I'm talking about the subject, not you. If you choose to take it personally that's on you.

Just because someone is at fault doesn’t mean it’s ok to make something that causes people such harm to be easily accessible. Drugs are illegal for this very reason. Yeah it’s the person who took it who’s fault it is but that doesn’t mean you should still allow the sale of it. And porn is shown to be just as damaging as drugs, even stimulating the same portion of the brain.

So you are right in saying it is the persons fault for getting addicted but it is also the person who provides it as well.

Porn is anti man. It’s the opposite of what it means to truly be a good male person in this world. It’s the objectification of women on a large scale. The promoting of an industry that causes harm to both men and women. Women and men get raped and assaulted and harmed and depressed and sexualized and drugged and beat in the porn industry and every view funds it. By watching it you are actively funding an industry designed to hurt people. That is so much against what men are supposed to stand for.

And the only reason I can think for you defending such a horrible industry is because you are neck deep in it. And the idea that what you are attached to is evil convicts you and you don’t like that feeling.

Not saying that’s true but what else am I supposed to think? Why defend something you have no involvement with?

[–]tenchineuro 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

So you are right in saying it is the persons fault for getting addicted but it is also the person who provides it as well.

Except I did not place fault anywhere.

Porn is anti man.

You flipped the feminist claim.

It’s the opposite of what it means to truly be a good male person in this world.

By who's accounting? Seems today men are at fault no matter what they do or don't do. There is nothing a man can do to be 'good'.

And the only reason I can think for you defending such a horrible industry is because you are neck deep in it.

Who said anything about the industry? It would be nice of you could restrict what you read to what I've written, but it seems you have a narrative of your own.

Why defend something you have no involvement with?

I've not said one word about, do you have some problem reading for meaning?

I responded that it's a problem of addiction, and apparently you have some severe issues with that.

[–]XandogxD 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Yeah tbh you are probably right. Sorry I tend to get a little riled up when it comes to this topic and I was hasty. I do apologize. I have struggled a lot over the years and sometimes my trauma just comes to bite me in the butt 😅😕

Yeah my response was pretty inappropriate. And I am truly sorry about making you out to be a bad person. And yeah you have some really good points. Sorry for grief I caused you. I admit I was the person who responded like a feminist, not like a well thought out man. Hope your day goes better.

[–]tenchineuro 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Hope your day goes better.

It should, after we pick up my son after sports we're getting pizza.

Hope your day gets better too.

[–]XandogxD 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Nice. And thanks. Yeah I feel real dumb. I’m probably not quite yet at that stage of recovery where I can properly discuss a topic such as this. I sure do hope this doesn’t taint how you see others on the subreddit. They are nothing like me.

Lol young and dumb that’s me
