Depends on the type of ltr honestly. The shit that you would drop a girlfriend for is stuff that you sit patiently through with a wife. With a gf you can walk anytime you want but with a wife the laws don't let you.

If she cheats on you, you should get rid of her regardless. A girl that does that doesn't respect you nor does she love you. You are just something for her to cling to while she does her thing.

Another reason I would say is to be using sex as a reward/punishment system. If a woman is to that point then you should know that she no longer finds you attractive enough to want to have sex with you. She is using your drive to keep you in check. Get her the hell out of your life.

Quite frankly, this is something that you have no business getting into an LTR in the first place if you don't already know the answer to this question.

A truly asserted man will already know going in what he will and won't tolerate. What kind of things come with a warning, and what kind of things are insta-dump infractions. Examples for myself:

"Soft nexting":

-Passive aggressive attempts at controlling behavior

-Attempts to monopolize my time

-Signs of emotional neediness

Insta-dump:

-Rude to customer service staff of any kind, especially if unwarranted

-Getting into verbal or physical altercations in public (drunk, bar fighting wench)

-Blatantly allowing or inviting behavior from other guys that comes across as disrespectful. (Blatant flirting, sexual innuendo etc)

Very recently got rid of my LTR (5 years).

She asked me "Well what do you do for me?" at the bottom of a trivial argument.

She's finding this out in explicit terms from her spare box room at her mothers without the salary to get a place of her own.

Funny how much she's asking after me - I already have another 2 girls I'm spinning now.

There are some good suggestions here, I'll add a few bad signs:

Even the slightest sign of contempt
Tries using sex to modify your behavior or get gifts
Any sign of gambling, hard drug use, or alcoholism
Mental illness, depression, or suicide attempts
Physical abuse - hitting or destroying stuff
Large weight gain
Starts spending time with other guys
Low libido - loss of interest in sex
Addicted to the phone or social network

It depends how much you care about her and how bad she fucked up. If she didn't fuck up and you're just not into her anymore, then don't be a dick. Just end it with her. If she fucked up really bad and cheated on you, then never speak to her again. If she did something questionable but not deal-breakingly bad, then demote her to non-exclusive.

Wtf is soft nexting? When you're done with a girl, you're done with a girl. Either the pros of her company outweigh the cons, or they don't. Your time is limited; either spending it on her is a good use of time, or a bad use. If the cons are ever outweighing the pros, break up.

Everything is situational so this is a really tough question to answer effectively. Are you living together? How long? Etc etc.

That being said, the most important thing is sticking by the boundaries and rules you have established as the 'captain' of your ship. If your girl doesn't abide by them, that's it.

The best way to approach the actually 'breaking up' is this: Unless she has done something flagrant like cheat or make a scene in public (immediate and irrevocable cut off contact), just casually demote her to non LTR status. It is then up to her to decide whether she would rather share you or not have you at all. Let her make that decision.

Lots of "bi" girls are really just broken validation whores.

Also bi means if you want exclusive you have to worry about double the opportunities to cheat. So your frame needs to be more solid than usual since the obvious Alpha/beta dichotomy that exists for male competition doesn't exist for female mates so you'd need to be more aware of subtle competition.

I say playing with fire for LTRs as it just adds more complications to an already complicated game IMO.

Obviously your mileage may vary and the girls will always vary.

You'll then get over her quickly because she's a sloot (the easy part of the pill to swallow) but hate yourself for all the time and money spent on her and the opportunities you passed up for a 'monogamous' (yeah, right) relationship.
