Nationally, women under 30 who work full time, year-round earn about 93 cents on the dollar compared with men in the same age range, measured at the median.

Later they say it's 44 hours per week for men and 42 for women at the median. I wonder why they didn't use the mean for better comparison. Anyway, using medians this translate the wage gap to a $0.025 difference when normalized to hours worked. Women make 2.5% less than men when time worked and age of career are controlled an no other factors considered. That gap is likely less or flipped if we use a proper comparison with mean hours worked.

The bureau of labor stats said 2009 was the first year more women were in manager roles than men. So women are most of HR, most of manager positions.

When a study was done on peer groups (2000 groups) within 247 of the 250 largest cities, they found women made 8-17% more than their male peers. The only "new" things this research shows is that it doesn't require normalizing to peer groups anymore.

Why do people think the solution to the wage gap is more women in higher positions? That isn't what causes it. It is life choices. Those choices are important and men should be making those choices more often. Life is about more than working. People that spend more time in a career will always tend to make more than people who spent less time in that career. Experience translate to value. The wage gap will never change by use of egalitarian approaches if men don't value their ability to live their lives outside work. We shouldn't be pushing women into thinking they need to have the same unhealthy relationship with work that men are expected. That is some dystopia capitalist shit. "Gender equality means being our wage slave"

Why isn't it "gender equality means men getting to value their time outside work like their female peers."

Why don't we ever see anyone talk about the wage gap being a result of men burning both ends of the wick and working themselves to death (sometimes literally)?

The wage gap only indicates that society still sees males as wage slaves. Like their female peers, men need to prioritize living over working to death making some corpo dickhead rich.

22/250 = 8.8% of cities studied have women making more than men in a small demographic. In the future young women should be making more than men as they dominate in higher education.
