Hello everyone. I would love some advice. I have been dating my boyfriend for a year now. We are 17 and 18, and yes I understand that it is young, but I genuinely think we will last and work hard to keep our relationship steady. Regardless of that, I am wondering what RPW thinks is a good balance between doing what you vs your SO wants.
In this example, I really want to get my lip pierced. A vertical labret, so it's not so gaudy and I think it would look nice on me. However, my boyfriend does not like any form of facial piercings. I respect his opinion, but I would like to do this for myself. Obviously he has told me that he will still love and find me attractive no matter what, but just that piercings are not his favorite.
This happens for a lot of things as well. I like my hair chin length, he likes it longer. I dye my hair, he thinks it would be better natural. None of these things are things that he will end a relationship over, but I was wondering how to strike a clean balance.
I think I compromise well enough. I grew my hair to shoulder length, stopped getting tattoos, started dressing more to his style.
But specifically on the lip piercing, what should I do?
