This kind of behavior is deeply damaging the progress on the issue of men's mental health. Don't be afraid to speak out against it, this is essentially victim blaming and is indeed sexist.
Men do not always deal with emotions the same way as women. Rather than shaming men for not 'opening up', how about we learn to adapt our methods of treating mental health to more effectively support men?
The issue is that mental health and societies idea of mental health (the treatment especially) is one that is more favorable towards women. Society is taking the treatment that has been successful for women and is forcing it on men, hoping it will work... and that's why it usually doesn't. We must change this... to support both women & men equally and effectively!
