Amazingly enough, mediation went well. I think she'd gone crazy enough she was no longer trying to pretend she was a good person or mother. She just threw everything away. Gave up with no fight at all the house, kids, car (she's got one too, but she's paying for it herself and his is paid off). Best part is he's too new and low in the work force to qualify for the mortgage on his own so she's still on it but gave up all rights to the house and there's no date that he ever has to refinance it. He gave her some extra summer visitation but nobody expects her to do even the basics so it doesn't matter anyway. There was nothing he could ask for more than what he already got. Her income for child support was based off of three jobs ago when they got separated, since then she keeps losing her job and getting progressively worse paying ones.

Still needed to take it before a judge. No telling how that would go. Show up and deny everything she just signed in mediation was a good bet, especially since she fired her second lawyer and was now (mis)representing herself. But my son's lawyer was ready for anything, including what actually happened which was that she didn't bother to show up. Had the right forms ready and the judge signed off on it. All my son had to do was get it signed and notorized which he did on the way home from court. I don't know if that makes Friday sock Day or if we still have to wait for something more but it sure as hell feels like it is over.

I want to thank you all for the support and advice. So many things I learned here that I shared with him. He says thanks too. Neither of us had a clue about an American divorce before your help and now I feel like I understand it more than my own country's. I don't feel like we get a whole lot of true victories here so I wanted to offer one up for you. We couldn't have done it without you so it's your victory too.
