Women of ppd, Any advice for depressed lonely men?

Honestly, being depressed is probably only going to compound your problem, so it’s probably a vicious circle now. Can’t get a girlfriend -> depression -> makes it harder to get a girlfriend -> worsening depression.

I know a lot of men in your situation believe that getting into a relationship will fix all of your problems, but it won’t. A singular person can’t be the only source of happiness because if she leaves, you’re right back at square one; lonely and depressed.

I think you need to find meaning in your life that doesn’t revolve around women and ironically, you’ll probably be more successful with them when the stench of desperation dissipates.

Any advice for depressed lonely men?

I have a lot to say, but only if they want to improve their love life. I'll be brutally honest.

I want you to tell me in your own words, what are some other ways you'd suggest him to deal with this pain.

In my own words, become the best version of yourself.

Become comfortable with yourself. Learn to enjoy it. Because it’s when you’re radiant and stoked on your life and in your body and your person, that vitality and energy is what attracts people.

So find hobbies that you become super into. Find things that make you happy, on your own. Make some friends so you can have some good company.

Because also, if you enter a relationship with the idea that a woman will make you happy, that’s codependent and typically doesn’t turn out well. You can’t rely on another person for your happiness. Because if it goes sour, you’re fucked. The best relationships happen when two people who feel good within themselves to the point where they are content with being single because they are happy and love their life, find each other and add to each other’s lives. But it’s not about being incomplete and needing someone else to complete you. A lot of people make this mistake and end up in toxic relationships.

I know it sounds hard if you’re very depressed. So if you’re really in the pits, I highly recommend regular exercise as often as possible, even just a walk, getting outside in nature, eating healthy and going to therapy. I can vouch for these things, because they worked for me.

See a therapist. Start exercising, take up some physical hobby . Moutain climbing , lifting, kayaking , get out in nature. Anything to get your endorphins pumping in a good direction.

Is this the kind of depression where you're just not happy or is this like a Bipolar or manic depression because there's a big difference? 🤔

To the OP, I echo some of the advice that's already been given. I think it's in striving towards and working on becoming the very best version of yourself that you ultimately attract what you want out of life, including a romantic relationship if you still want one.

I speak from personal experience as I've struggled with depression, anxiety and weight issues for a long time. Being in a relationship would've made things worse for me since I wasn't content within myself.

As I work towards becoming a better version of me, I find I'm becoming someone I never imagined I could be.
