Women aren't supposed to be confidants to us. Neither are children supposed to function as a confidant to their mothers. It causes so many problems.

I have a buddy who got a psych degree and works as therapist for other veterans. There are certain things you won't understand unless you have some comparable experiences. It's a second career for him. He's a little too beat up for physical work. It was a good move for him. More guys need to do what he's doing. Veterans can't gain any insight from someone who's never left the home or the office cubicle.

Being a man is completely different from being a woman. A female counselor can never understand what it is to be in the struggle for life the way men are, even if they have knowledge about other aspects of life.

Women have done a good job of routing money into each other's hands through medical insurance. When they chat with each other, they get to bill the taxpayer for it. Men need to do the same thing. But for God's sake, they need to stop divulging weakness to their wives or girlfriends. It's like telling a pickpocket how much jewelry you have.

It is for this reason exactly that I will continue to be unapologetically & authentically vulnerable in my experience with all people I meet, not just women. There's a positive to most negatives. That positive is that you find out who the people around you really are after & during times of vulnerability with them. In other words, I am beholden to the mentality of "The trash takes itself out". Choosing to be unapologetically vulnerable in a society that has made you think being vulnerable is for the weak, in itself, is a sign of radical strength within you. Real tribes are discovered only at two ends of the spectrum:

When you are at your very best
When you are at your very worst

Hence, it goes without saying:

The positive people in your tribe are equally positive towards you during your best & worst moments.
The negative people in your tribe are equally negative towards you during your best & worst moments.
The neutral people (Worst kind) are as negative towards you during your worst moments as they are positive towards you during your best moments.
