I got rid of all my social media cause idgaf what everyone else is going doing, do most people have social media because they care about what everyone else is doing?

I am a total disadvantage as compared to social media when it comes to meeting people and staying in "the loop", but I feel like I'm not at my best version of myself yet and having social media makes me compare myself to everyone. But I have been thinking about starting a new Instagram.
