It doesn't clearly say in this article, but in another news article it says that what actually happened was: the man took her in as a gf, and didn't want her to pay any rent. Instead, he demanded that she buys a £25 lottery ticket for him every week. That was the arrangement.

Well, that was fine and he can make whatever arrangement he wants. But the big mistake he made was to let her buy the lottery tickets using her own credit cards. If he didn't make this mistake, the entire money would have belonged to him today. In this day and age you really can't allow modern women to take ownership of something you own. I don't care if it's a phone, laptop, jewelry or whatever, but letting them take ownership of anything is a big no.

Legally speaking, it's hers. But morally speaking? He literally didn't let her pay rent at all. She should have, ideally speaking, gave the money to him. If she didn't want to be with him, she should have split it.

Ouch, that would sting! I don’t usually play the Lottery unless I hear about a huge Lottery win, but if I ever won, I’d first delete my Facebook Account and all of my Social Media Accounts. I’d take the money, live a quiet life, and do my best to stay out of the public eye.
