Yeah those laws on how old you have to be to have sex with an XX-aged person are written neutrally knowing full well this penalizes the males. Of course they hardly ever prosecute women for under aged sex even when it happens, except in the case of school teachers having sex with their students (which is a different abuse of trust but related of course).

The law's pretty much designed to fuck over and trip up young men. Never young women.

Like a lot of laws -- in fact the entire legal system was designed to control men and not women.

Beyond the obvious benefit from being above the law, women benefit from this because making the male sex role criminal allows them to filter out men they don't want from among all the men they attract. If a young man is brave enough to risk prison to have sex with them then that's a way to show he's a superior sexual partner. You see this sort of dynamic a lot in nature among species with two sexes. Very often the male of the species has to perform dangerous or costly actions to advertise to the females that he is a super efficient specimen who can afford to do reckless things or waste resources and still survive. It's like a sort of built in reason why women prefer "bad boys" or men who show off their wealth and power with "pointless" displays.

Any man who is in your position now has the fun of rubbing it in women’s faces. Women very much willingly seek out relationships with older men. Many girls I knew in my early 20s who dated 30 year olds but ended up with guys their age are suddenly judgmental of guys who do this.

There is a statistically proven healthy age difference in relationships, the man being older of course.

In my highschool years the 'girls' literally interested(!) in waaaay much older men; they were literally 'going out' with collage guys, motorcycle gangs; even many other shady older dudes - I dont even think their families even knew what's going on ! D:

I don’t see how you dating a girl two years younger than you would have been a problem for anyone. 3+ years, and it starts to get a little iffy depending on the maturity difference though. I still see all kinds of high schoolers with 1-3 year age differences going both directions in terms of gender.

I only realized recently that women like dating men older (sometimes far older) than them, and it's buried deeply in their DNA to do so. A lot of messaging that it's "creepy" for men to date someone more than a year or two younger than them doesn't really reflect basic human biological needs (women looking for resources to support their young, men looking for fertility).

I don't think 13 year old should be dating. I don't think 16 year old should be having sex. I really don't think their partner being a peer somehow makes it any less unhealthy.

At 32 I married a 19 year old (who I met at 19) and emotional nuts still call it pedophilia (it's only pedophilia with prepubescents, post pubescent minors would make it ephebophilia). Still going strong a decade later. As long as you're each getting the relationship you want and it's legal, screw other people's expectations.
