When he says almost half of men having mild or moderate depression is startling is when he lost me. Ah yes let’s just shit on your entire gender for decades and not expect any negative feelings.

I remember a decade ago when a female Professor at a Toronto university campus celebrated that the Great Recession was actually a mass unemployment crisis for men, while women were gaining jobs through the public sector and equal opportunity laws.

Interesting, if not to say alarming, findings. Thnx for sharing!

I think the British Parliament's report on male suicide is way ahead of the state of affairs in Canada. Esp since they have explicitly walked away from the feminist narrative of 'toxic masculinity' and it's myth that 'men need to talk more' since it is essentially victim blaming.

This is also the reason that many of the commenters here reacted negatively to the article. Heads Up Guys probably still needs get it's head out of the feminist fog.

The authoress, Moira Wyton is a government funded, obese, feminist man hater whining about toxic masculinity.

This whole propaganda is just more man hating.

Fuck the man haters and their propaganda.

Every bit of this is to push more “toxic masculinity” bullshit. They probably had to hand her a cheesecake as a bribe to get her to not blame patriarchy.

Calm the fuck down. I read it as a guy and don't see it as hating on men. I think there is some aspect of toxic masculinity where men are told they shouldn't share emotions or bottle everything up which isn't good. Men should talk to other men about their problems issues they're having and if necessary get help.

Here's the actual study btw

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8646842/

And another article not from a female

https://financialpost.com/globe-newswire/nearly-half-of-canadian-men-surveyed-score-above-threshold-for-probable-major-depression-landmark-study-finds

I agree that pushing toxic masculinity in this context is appalling. A way to blame individual men rather than looking for solutions.

She could ask herself why men don't seek help. Is there some places where men can be together and exchange without being judged by women? The answer is no, these places where closed (because of toxic masculinity) or invaded by feminists in the past 20 years. Do men have access to psychological help? No, men psychologists are disappearing. Feminist's organizations capture all the help the government can provide when it comes to psychological help.

Imagine a second a program designed to help depressed men.... there would be a massive uproar.

The usage of toxic masculinity is a strawman used to avoid looking at the disastrous effect feminism had in the past 10 -20 years.

Wow how is this man-hating in the slightest?

And why is her weight even being brought up? It’s entirely irrelevant.

These same Toronto feminists would kneel down and give a bareback blowjob of the politicians and the corporate elite while continuing to enact laws to affect middle class men.

[–]dkmegg22[S] -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

My god wtf is wrong with you. You can at least discuss the contents of the article itsself. There are some interesting findings.

[–]Early-Department-234 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

These stats were available for decades but the feminist movement blamed it as toxic masculinity.

Now when the rents are high in Toronto that these Toronto feminazis pretend to care for men. Not buying it. The feminists are kissing the butt hole of the Toronto elite.

[–]dkmegg22[S] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I mean the tyee is a pretty left wing magazine who no Toronto Elite would entertain. The ones who paid for the article are men. Not women.

[–]Early-Department-234 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

The Toronto elite fund feminism to attack middle class men. You don't know anything about how politics work in the feminist countries. These feminists were protesting and rioting against Warren Farrel a decade ago.

[–]dkmegg22[S] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I mean I've lived in Canada for over 28 years, consistently vote in all elections, have met with elected officials from all over the political spectrum. Soo yeah I know a little of how politics works in Canada at least.

[–]Early-Department-234 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So did you forget that Trudeau is a feminist whose policies attack middle class men?

[–]dkmegg22[S] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

His policies have targeted many not just middle class men. His virtue signalling, massive deficits his broken promise on electoral reform and reconciliation of indigenous peoples are all mistakes he's made.

[–]Early-Department-234 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The massive deficits were to fund feminist professions in the public sector, while giving freebies to corporations who hire women. Trudeau is a failure for men. It's bad for men.

[–]dkmegg22[S] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Tbh my life hasn't changed much from Harper to Trudeau really. It's more the provincial and municipal governments where you see the most effect in your daily life.

[–]_BlueShark87 -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I’m gonna side with him here because I have seen so much shit that I don’t feel like believing in society anymore. It can burn down and I’ll watch it happen with a smile on my face.

[–]Early-Department-234 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There is a serious homeless crisis in Toronto. Mainly blue collar White men and Indigenous women. When the homeless crisis started to affect these Liberals and their property values, then they started to pretend that they care about men's issues.

Be very careful to take psycho drugs , because there's a good chance you can get a long lasting or even permanent sexual dysfunction, which means inabilty to feel pleasure from orgasm, lack of sensitivity to genitals, and obviously erectile dysfunction. Do not play with fire and do not trust the so called mental health professionals: they are the worst scammers ever in the medical world. Look at what PSSD is: https://www.pssdnetwork.org/

[–]Saerain 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Psycho as in psychotropic, generally?

[–]Longjumping_Fly_2978 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

The drugs given by psychiatrists. Street drugs are safer in this regard, but obviously can still have risks. And I obviously do not advise taking streets drugs.

Also dare I say depression is a sign of weakness? It comes about from losing too often and finally your brain chemistry is reflecting those losses. At least this is one theory among clinical psychologists, proven in animals.

But losing comes in many shapes and sizes and it's not always anyone's fault. For some people negative consequences happen day in and day out beyond their control. You can look at depression as literally having lost so much that you can't get your footing to fight back anymore.

So why are men becoming increasingly more hopeless? Why are we left to our own devices? Why is there a lack of sympathy?

[–]IgorRenfield 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Honestly, I'm surprised anyone in the media is giving a crap about male suicide. They must be afraid society is losing their drones.

Can comment on this.

As a grizzled exec - I’ve seen tons of men pressured into providing extravagant lives demanded by their entitled wives. Wives who don’t work, don’t contribute, and don’t even do a good job of taking care of the kids (they outsource everything).

Men have told me that their wives tell them “you don’t love me unless you buy me ‘X’. They’re stuck working jobs they don’t want to work due to feminine pressures.

I’ve also seen dejected older men use the office as an escape and refuge from nagging wives.

If you take away joy and meaning from men at work - it will result in them being discontent.

Take away work altogether - and you’ve literally taken their last refuge away. Even a subpar job can provide refuge from toxic relationships.

If you ever find yourself in a position of leadership in the workplace - make sure you create a positive environment. Do not let gynocentrism cloud your evaluation - judge every man or woman by their character. And try to streamline/eliminate mundane work that doesn’t add any value to the firm.

That’s how I’ve always done things. And I know I’m just one man, but we got to start somewhere as a society.
