Men have been proposing for decades that support payments could come on an EBT card that monitors how the money was spent. Government programs realized long ago that would make it harder to buy drugs and alcohol with them. It would make it easy to tell whether money was being spent on the child. Guess who opposes this incredibly simple and effective measure?

A woman could be a raging alcoholic & still get custody.

[–]casra888 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They always do.

[–]jeffend1981 28 points29 points30 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I have no idea why it’s not monitored to begin with. I’m not subsidizing someone’s indulgent lifestyle. Already did that once.

[–]lonewolf86254 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because then there would be more proof that not all mothers act in the best interests of the kids.

[–]Aimless-Nomad 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The whole thing is a money racket. Thats why.

How so? This take is pretty big brained aside from her underestimating the prevalence.

Ohh wait i misread the post😂. Nvm just based

Here in Ireland we used to have a day each week were pubs and clubs would offer happy hour. It was actually usually 4-5hrs discount drinks. The government had to outlaw it in the 2000's.

Why. Turns out the wonderful cannot be questioned mothers of Ireland were spending vast amounts of taxpayer funded social welfare child benefit payments on the drink for themselves instead of using the money for their kids as was intended. Of course no politician would ever say this publicly because facts are misogyny and women can do no wrong. Stunning and brave.

[–]lonewolf86254 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

This is why I question if the government is acting in the best interests of the children.

[–]Thermobaric_Potato 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

They don't give a damn about the kids unless those kids are useful to them to gain more power and profit. Both the majority of politicians and every feminist and their organisations.

Kids don't vote but they can be useful to manipulate & mould for feminists and mothers do vote so they are useful to both the political and feminist class so cannot be questioned and must be appeased. As most women are left leaning, more vengeful than men and only give a damn about themselves (most not all) the taxpayers money must continue to flow from political party's to them for their use under the guise of benefitting the children. That way they keep voting for those doling it out and the women can maintain the lie/image they are doing it all for the kids.

Source? Oh who am I fooling? There is no source, you pulled that straight from your arse.

On the website it states that benefits can be stopped in the cases of fraud but the government has exceptions like child benefits which cannot be withheld even if they prove fraud. Uk govt on benefits fraud.

[–]Forward-Transition-5 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The only time any government has ever actually cared about children is when those children benefit them for another purpose. It’s essentially a benefit by proxy situation.

[–]casra888 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Government acts in the best interest of women.

[+]twistednormz -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Well this is bullshit, and your claim "of course no politician would ever say this publicly" says it all. You can't prove it but you're pre-empting anybody proving you wrong by suggesting the proof is hidden.

[–]lonewolf86254 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Have you ever heard any MP speak out against this and push it to be debated in the same way they have criminalized "intense staring"

[+]twistednormz 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

You're confused about which country we're talking about in this thread.

[–]lonewolf86254 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Sorry about that but women are still getting away with benefits fraud.https://www.irishnews.com/news/northernirelandnews/2020/08/25/news/mother-of-four-who-claimed-more-than-200-000-in-benefit-fraud-avoids-jail-2045651/

Still the wrong country. Northern Ireland is part of the UK. Republic of Ireland (often just called Ireland) is an independent country and is the one we are discussing in this thread.

[–]lonewolf86254 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Fair enough but do you see any push by MPs to highlight this bad behavior be it in northern Ireland or in the Republic of Ireland?

[+]twistednormz 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The term is TDs in the Republic of Ireland, not MPs. And no there is no push here that I've seen to highlight the "bad behaviour" of women. But we have a unique history with colonialism, catholicism etc, our country is only about 100 years old so quite young in the scheme of things, it's only in the last 30 years we've started to shed the hold the church had on us and discover who we are as a nation. Divorce rates are still quite low here, for example, although growing every year.

Just a personal anecdote : I have a friend whose relationship broke down and ended. She has three children. Her ex wanted her to have custody but didn't want to pay child support as he doesn't want to have to "give her" money. He was forced by the courts to spend time with his kids every second weekend, and only has to pay her €100 per week. That's not per child, it's €100 total. He has a good job which he is free to do as he doesn't have to look after his children, and earns good money. She cannot work full time hours as she has to bring the kids to school for 9.30am, collect them from school by 3.30pm, bring them to their extra curriculars, cook for them, help with homework, put them to bed etc. She works whatever hours she can get while the kids are in school but still struggles with money. Her ex could help out a lot more with the kids, both in terms of spending time with them and paying towards things they need but he refuses, really just to spite her. She is not spending his money on getting her nails done, she is spending it on feeding the kids and trying to give them a decent life as much as possible. Do you believe there is a need for how she spends that €100 per week to be monitored? Because I don't.

[–]lonewolf86254 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Your friend sounds as if she’s in a bad situation, the father should do more based on what you have posted however if the funds given are meant for the kids you should have no issue with the government monitoring. Forget about your personal feelings it’s about making sure there’s checks and balances to make sure the KIDS are being catered for.

I have no issue with my employer drug testing because I don’t do drugs, it’s just a mechanism to keep everyone honest.

[+]twistednormz 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is my whole point really : since child support payments here generally tend to be on the low side, there's no need to monitor to make sure the woman isn't "behaving badly" by getting her nails done. It's not necessary and there are other things we need to improve here, the health service for example. There are checks and balances to ensure kids are being catered for, we have laws against neglect of children etc. Like many countries we don't have enough funding for this, so steering funding into monitoring how the pittance of child support is being spent will not be very helpful in this regard. Look, I don't know much about how these things work in other countries so I won't comment on that. But I replied above to someone who wrote about some made up conspiracy in Ireland. I don't see how you chiming in and assuming everything UK/US applies the same here is useful.

We are just winding up an 8 year trial which was meant to be a 2 year trial of something similar to this here in Australia for those on Social Security payments in certain areas and the end result was there no differences in drug usage and crime rates the only winner of the Cashless Debit Card was the company that distributed the Card Indue who were given a shitload of government money to run it

Thankfully there was a change in Government earlier this year and the current government decided to kill the card

[–]lonewolf86254 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Let me ask are there any ideas on changes which can be made to make sure the funds are spent on kids.

[–]KazukiYahashi 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s weird how it never was.
