I was but looking to get out of Ems. EW is a RN so we both are having a heck of a time creating a regular schedule

Not rotating but I work midnight shift. I have an agreement with the STBXW that my kid can’t be at my place by herself (she’s 17). It is written in the initial settlement agreement. We share 50/50 custody I’m off 3 days a week. However she is 17 and drives and is very independent so it doesn’t matter that much to me/us on the weekends or breaks as long as she is with a friend or a parent.

I work a dupont schedule, I have my kids on my days off. Our custody agreement gives a percentage split and say we will work out the days our self.

Even with that, you need an alien abduction plan. Consider this - what would you do if aliens abducted the mother tomorrow? How would you care for the kids 24/7? Would your own mom (grandma) come and help? Consider what your alien abduction plan would be and tell me. Of course aliens are laughable. But the situation comes up more often that you think with illness/hospitalization, incarceration/drunk driving, disinterested mothers, Mr. Wonderful in some distant place, etc. There is little warning when the child can suddenly become 100% your responsibility. I hope no aliens happen upon the mother as an example of the human female, but you must be prepared to assume command in an instant.
