LGBT people are more likely to be on the left side of the political spectrum, and feminism is a leftist ideology. It seems pretty rare to meet anyone who identifies as a liberal or leftist who doesn't also support feminism.

Nah I live in the south and am gay, there are definitely some in my group (including me and my spouse) who are not feminist and/or not as liberal as many would expect. We get tired of the woo straight girls in the gay bars groping, tired of people acting as if our sexuality should be our main characteristic in life, tired of feminists drowning out male voices bringing up legit concerns, etc. Many feminists believe we’re not as “oppressed” because we are more “straight acting” (their words), southern, and white.

All of this has rubbed a section of our gay community the wrong way and has shifted some of us to not be feminist. Even some of my feminist male, gay friends have a much more conservative view of it than others because they’re seeing that there’s no escape from cruel criticism/hate towards us just because we’re male.

I have a close friend who is gay and he is similar to you in this way. He struggles to have meaningful relationships, with both sexes, because of the damage that feminism has done to us all. Women feel entitled to his time and attention because he’s gay, his male counterparts are still caught up in their “sexual revolution” phase so he finds it hard to meet loyal men. I think if everyone took the time to be objective, they would see how feminism doesn’t serve anyone. It’s an agenda and it’s serves the people who put it forth. Honestly though, barely serves them. Women being less than feminine is disgusting for us all.

It does not depend on sexuality. But there are people whose sexuality is their top personality trait so they often identify themselves with political correctness and feminism is an extremely politically correct movement.

There is a kind of stereotype that gay guys are feminists. I have noticed. But I don't know why.

I have seen a feminist who espoused that lesbianism is a choice, and one every woman should make....because apparently the way to stop misogyny is to wipe out the human race in a few generations. I thought that was weird.

Maybe gay rights and women's rights have been lumped together under the umbrella of the left? In for a penny, in for a pound?

What she's doing is terrible, but it's not a feminist action.

It really sounds like you are immature and uneducated on feminism, which is fine, just that you need to do some growing up and actually learn about what feminism is before attempting to bash it.

One of my best friend is antifeminist and he recently made me his coming out about being gay. So i guess it has nothing to do with sexuality.

I've made several replies and posts on askgaybros that are antifeminist which have been upvoted and received positive replies. But it is true that the majority of gay men on that sub support feminists. But the overwhelming majority of them are also in their 20s (there have been several polls asking for age) and it's obvious that they lack experience with the world.

Back when I was younger I got the impression that gay men weren't as supportive of feminists as they are now. My interpretation was that since gay men aren't interested sexually in women we're less likely to overlook their shortcomings. For example, a straight man would be much more likely to overlook mistakes made by a hot sexy administrative assistant/secretary.
