All I could think of when I read this article and their hypothetical situation was that women aren't allowed to be responsible for their choices while intoxicated and men are always responsible for theirs while intoxicated.

I call this statement depressing because Sokolow is not only founder and president of the National Center for Higher Education Risk Management (NCHERM), he's an attorney. As such, I would expect Sokolow to be entirely familiar with the importance our American conception of justice places on the rights of the accused ... In conflating those accused of an act with those guilty of an act, Sokolow's disdain for due process echoes the worst instincts of the angry mob.

The "sticking up for penises" comment is a nice touch, revealing an awful lot about what passes for enlightened thought in the circles Sokolow moves in.

That’s because if you look at campus sexual violence through a victim-advocate lens, you have to believe vast legions of rapes and assaults go unreported. There’s no other way to ~~explain why the Clery numbers are so low and the Justice Department’s so high~~ justify your job.

college-going guys need to take this seriously and refuse to have any sexual relations with classmates who have been drinking. however, these rules don't apply to people who don't go to federally funded colleges.
