Seriously, this is all the article says:

It is claimed he "repeatedly loitered within a parked motor vehicle in the vicinity of the office premises" and stared at the offices and Miss Sturgeon.

I'm sure Ms. Sturgeon is a spectacular person and all, but how does she know he was only staring at her? I'm assuming the Deputy First Minister of Scotland has offices in an office building, where lots of other people also have offices. I know I've never had an office so close to the street that I could accurately tell exactly which window parked drivers were looking at.

While it's possible that the security there is so lax that Deputy First Minister of Scotland has an office that close to public traffic, I kinda doubt that to be the case.

The story lacks enough detail to really make a judgement. Until more detail comes out, I'll be one of those "innocent until proven guilty" assholes.

If someone kept parking outside my office window and staring in I’d call the cops too. OP is seeing persecution when it isn’t there.

This guy was being a fucking creep by the sounds of it. If a woman was doing this to a man I'd call her a fucking creep too. This is not a men's rights issue. This is a nanny state issue, if anything at all.

I can understand how this would cause her to feel fear. However , it's not clear to me on what grounds you can actually hold this guy. I mean , what's the charge ? Stalking ? That would make sense and it seems like a reasonable charge.

The paper seems to want to paint it simply as a matter of "We're sending him to prison and throwing away the key because he glanced in her direction." That's clearly not the case here.

I bet these kinds of things will happen more often and legalese will increasingly cover up what actually happened. Eg. the man repeatedly showed up on her premises, appeared to look around and even at her, clearly with intimidation and threat of violence in mind. Assault. And then they throw the postman in jail. Maybe they get some photographs taken of him groggy as hell in the morning and present it as evidence of a rape stare. Gradually all men will cover up in various costumes like barney the dinosaur so as to not come off as scary man beasts.
