I am ok with this. Kids should be able to play with what they want. Of course, these kids probably cant read the signs and its all the parents. If a girl wants to play with guns, so what. If a boy wants to play with an ez bake oven, so what. I don't advocate the psychopaths that take this to mean there kids are trans and then push them in that direction with a personal agenda. Kids should do what is fun, as long as it is safe.

I'm willing to bet that thing will have 0 effect on the choices children make with regards to choosing toys, it might influence some stupid parents though.

There's always the thought "Is this a genuine change in the way things are, or am I just paying attention more now?" so it seems nice that the subject of "toys" is definitely something I was more invested in as a gender non-conforming kid growing up in the 1980s.

There were a lot of gender neutral toys back then, of course there where the fringes of specifically marketed either sex but that's what they seemed like back then, fringes. Remember the last days of term at school when you could bring your games in? All I ever remember that being is a free-for-all. Except Mastermind. Someone ALWAYS brought in Mastermind, but I digress.

I wouldn't want to say that one sex has it worse than the other because I really don't think that's very productive path to go down and I find the idea of pushing a pram and baby doll on a girl when she's barely out of the womb herself equally disconcerting as the "Hey, life's problems? Violence is the answer" line for the boys.

Working in a shop though, I find spending time on the toy aisle to be just depressing, if anything needs to be underlined twice (in red) is the idea that pink is a colour, it's quite nice but you might not agree, either way is fine. Recently, there was a parent and a little girl and three stuffed unicorn toys, a pink one, a purple one and a green one. The girl wanted the purple one, the parent was really applying pressure for her to pink the pink one instead. All the while I was doing my job nearby, silently sighing all the oxygen out of my body.

Gender neutral toys doesn't necessarily mean that the dolls and action figures have to be banned, it just means reducing the social stigma of one particular toy being for one particular group.

Saw an article similar to this a while ago, a different company stopped using girls for girl toys and vica versa in the pictures of their catalog. I had a look at some of the pictures, girls with nerf guns, boys with toy kitchen sets, all looked really good.
