I'm A White Woman Of Color

I am a lot like this author in that I am a white (mostly white anyway) hispanic (Cuban), also raised in Miami. Here are my issues with this lady. First, she found her whiteness unsettling. What? Why should anyone find who they are unsettling? How can she not see how wrong her movement is if she is made to find her whiteness unsettling? She basically admits that to her whiteness is bad. Secondly, at Brown she started introducing her self as her a full hispanic because she gained attention and "legitimacy". How does she not see how wrong that is? Her hispanic view is not more legitimate than an american white person's view. If I felt I had to go around introducing myself as lonemango the hispanic guy just so that people would listen to me I would find a new group of people to talk to.

There may be other issues with her article, but I just couldn't keep reading passed that nonsense.

Isn't 'people of color' the most embarrassing antiquated phrase in the English language? When someone uses that expression you know they want to put black people in a zoo.
