I hate anti-intellectualism. Sharp kids should be applauded not bullied.

This is very true in the UK and has been since I was at school over 20 years ago.

Remember that education is based around a fundamentally feminist agenda. In that agenda, it's victims who are the most important people and anyone who succeeds through hard work and ingenuity is framed as having succeeded because of "privilege".

Hence almost all the school programs in the UK to receive major funding are geared towards helping "disadvantaged" children and those from broken homes and socially deprived areas - because those children are helpless victims in the education establishment's view.

In reality this leads exactly where you'd expect. Kids from shitty backgrounds have issues with drugs, violence, anger and bullying. They're typically the disruptive and dangerous elements in the schools but they are lavished with money and treats to try to fix them, which of course incentivises them to behave worse, and which brings down the rest of the school and especially the smart kids they target.

Indeed. Traditional masculinity has never been the kind of "Apollonian" rationalistic etc. model which feminists like Carol Gilligan and Camille Paglia (who disagrees with Gilligan on a lot, but on this issue they're aligned) have promoted.

Traditional masculinity has always been brutish warrior values. Which were, at one time, far more necessary than they currently are (and I think over time they will become less necessary). Aristotle and Plato might have believed philosophy was the most noble calling (unsurprisingly) but common opinion in societies has usually "nerd-shamed." Men who were primarily intellectuals and weren't warriors were socially emasculated. Pack-animal machoness has always been anti-intellectual because intelligence and independent thought are antidotes to the pack mentality.

In a world where new inventions and new ideas are the primary sources of wealth, this social emasculation of primarily-intellectual men is utterly pernicious. It shows how fundamentally outdated and toxic traditional masculinity is. Our gender system is unsuited to a civilization based on Enlightenment values.

The whole school system needs to be reworked IMHO. How about we make school fun, a place the kids miss and want to go to. Make the classes smaller or add more teachers to the classrooms. Make regular meetings with a counselor mandatory so that kids can talk about the problems which most kids have when they're growing up. Enable and encourage students to work on their own ideas & projects, try to help them find out what they want to become when they grow up. If a student does bad it should be addressed immediately. Eject all bullies from the school, call social services since there is obviously something wrong with them or their situation at home if they act out at other students, at the end almost anyone can become a decent person with proper help. Add subjects like critical thinking etc. to the curriculum in order to get the kids to become more independent. etc. etc. etc.

And of course, clever girls are popular with everyone and no-one ever picks on them. And if not(but it really never happens), even then they would not dream of dumbing down to avoid the bullies -- no -- being girls(and not wimpy boys!), they will make adult feminist dreams come true and infect the whole class with intelligence and polite manners and cure the bullies with love, respect and equality.
