It is an interesting approach. As a child, when my two sisters and I did chores, few were divided by gender, most were not. We got paid the same amount, the chores were not assigned an individual value. We were expected to complete our chores and we could swap them amongst ourselves if we chose.

Yeah, my family paid us all the same and split up the jobs. One child's chores were to set & clear the table before meals and empty the dishwasher when it was run. One child's chores were to gather laundry on laundry days and also do the trash twice a week. One child's chores were to feed the pets daily and then sweep the garage & change the litter once a week. For this I got $20 a month.

Assign your kids equal work and pay them equally.

It would be an interesting experiment to allow a son and daughter to choose the chores they do. Set up a different hourly pay for both to account for effort needed to complete the task. See what choices they make and how that affects this study.

Please read the actual report guys, and not just the title. At least skim it.

The article goes on and on about how the young girls aren't 'choosing' the harder stuff like lawn mowing. Even say's that by highlighting that those jobs pay more might make the girls raise their hand to do them.

Yes, the article is smothered in rhetoric and feminist conditioning, making the actual take-away less substantial. Still, reading between the lines, this excellently highlights the facts surrounding the actual pay gap. That, in the end, it always comes down to choice. That the ladies have the choice and (shock) decide not to pursue them for a myriad of reasons.

But yeah, this article is far from the 'everyone should be paid the same regardless' tilt that the title describes.
