What I really like about this article is how they applied absolutely no scientific analysis to the problem. Men are more susceptable to disease. Why? Meh, it must be because they are men. That's a good enough explanation. Let's not bother to wonder if there are environmental factors that are affecting their immune systems. Lets not wonder if there is some genetic cause to explain this. Naw, men must just be weaker.

If we say that then nobody has to give a crap, because it's just men. 95% of workplace deaths? that's fine. 4x the suicide rate? Don't worry about it. More risk taking? that's nature, not nurture. Only women's behaviors have been affected by sociological structures, so we have to do everything we can to fix that. But if men/boys are dying. Meh, boys will be boys, let 'em die.

It's so nice to feel disposable.

The only noteworthy thing is that whenever women are at a biological disadvantage of any kind, society rushes in to help them. It's odd that an article such as this would fail to mention that we spend a whole lot more money on women's healthcare than on men's.

Men work more dangerous jobs.

Men work longer hours.

Men receive less social reward for doing their jobs.

Men receive less support from their family, social, educational, and professional circles.

Men have less health resources available to them.

In familial situations, men are willing to sacrifice money for their own medical needs so that the women in their family may have their's seen to.

Okay. If all of this is true, shouldn't governments be doing more to help men rather than focusing on women all the time?
