Father's Day is the annual celebration of men's fertility.

Without which the human race would not exist.

We are in the midst of a crisis in masculinity where male violence is excused and normalised.

Violent crime is actually declining in the UK. And in the US. According to the BBC, violent crime in the UK is actually falling more quickly than it is in other Western European nations. You could not be more wrong if you tried.

There is no birth control that is 100% effective.

There's not fucking. That one is notoriously effective.

Why do so many men assume that they should face no consequences for fathering a child?

If bringing a child into this world is solely a woman's decision, as nations that have legalized abortion hold, then why shouldn't it solely be her responsibility?

And, why does the government support the right of these men to fuck women with impunity whilst "slut-shaming" those women for having sex?

It doesn't. The government has this program called "child support", also known as a "knocked my girl up tax."

Why are women the only ones who have to take responsibility for the consequences of having sex?

Guys don't get STDs now? That's a thing? The Y chromosome makes you HIV-proof? Does this dumbass even read what she's typing?

Why does the government think it should punish some women for withholding contact from abusive men without punishing those same men for the abuse or their failure to pay maintenance?

The government imprisons men who don't pay their child support or abuse their spouses or kids. In the US, the government even imprisons men who don't pay their child support without trial.

Why do men get to do whatever they want whenever they want with no legal or moral requirement for them to act like an adult?

There's no legal requirement for women to act like adults. They can happily have their child aborted or give the child up for adoption. Men actually are legally obligated to act like adults. As for moral requirements, the government doesn't set those. Morality is independent of the state's rules. If there is a moral requirement for males to support their offspring (which renders the pro-choice movement into a group of idiotic hypocrites) then it exists whether or not the state chooses to acknowledge it. The state doesn't get to set morality, but the state can make laws that reflect morality (such as the laws against rape and murder).

Men who withhold maintenance to punish the mother are committing child abuse and should be held legally accountable.

And women who withhold visitation to punish the father are doing what?

If the primary carer, who is almost always the mother, could go to prison for child neglect for failing to adequately feed and clothe their child, then why shouldn't the erstwhile "father"?

They can.

In 2012, over 70% of claims registered with the Child Support Agency were in arrears.

The western world is in a recession. Hard to pay child support when you're unemployed, underemployed, or have been ordered to pay about as much as you actually make. Then we have the incarceration rate facing young men, especially minority men. Hard to pay your child support when you're a black man doing 5 years for a crime that would have gotten a white man 4 years, a black women 2 years, and a white women 1 year.

Children live in poverty because their fathers refuse to take responsibility for them.

"Those lazy niggers! If they just got off their asses and worked, maybe the governments in Africa would stop slaughtering them! It's their fault that their nation is a fucked up war zone! It's their fault that they were born in a place without modern farming techniques or infrastructure!"

These men are the people who are destroying our families; not single mothers who are desperately trying to feed and clothe their children whilst dealing with abusive men in a society that doesn't think men should be held responsible for anything. Ever.

Men actually get harsher prison sentences than women do.

Pay maintenance. Not paying maintenance is child neglect.

Again, not all guys who are ordered to pay child support can.

Show up for contact. There is nothing more important than your children. Do not cancel to attend a football match.

Because women never deny fathers contact. At all. This never happens.

Domestic violence makes you a bad father.

If she beats you, you're a bad father.

Good fathers do not kill the mother of their children.

If you don't let her kill you or the kids, you're a bad father.

Good fathers do not murder their children to punish the children's mother.

I suspect Susan Smith's husband gave it thought once or twice. But then again, it wasn't really her fault. All she did was drown her kids. It was really his fault, because patriarchy.

Dear lord this toolbox needs some professional help. The exact same shit could be said about Mother's Day, with plenty of examples of moms killing their kids for crazy reasons. I'm sick of these nut jobs completely ignoring reality in order to justify their loony beliefs.

Edit: Also women are the only ones who have ways of fully stripping themselves of responsibility, while men have zero options, and will always be held fully legally responsible for fathering children.
