If and when there's an option to avoid public assistance for children, the state will almost always use that alternative. It's basically the state being lazy. "We'd lock her up, but, you know... the kids..."

Thus far the worst I've seen was 7 months in jail for premeditated murder of her husband. This happened last month, and the judge appeared to give zero fucks.

A false rape claim should carry the s same penalty as the rape would have. Including registering as a sex offender.

This is more a sign of how broken the legal system is than women getting a free pass. The fact is that this sentence these days matches what even men get on a second instance of assaulting police.

Here's why I say this. Late 2009, I was severely assaulted coming off a train by a violent drunk. The guy left me with 3 teeth snapped off from the jaw at the base of the tooth sockets, a 17cm long hairline fracture to the lower jaw, severe welts from having my head stomped on and a blowout fracture to the left eyes socket. By my parents' own admission, I looked like the elephant man and nurses treating me wondered at the fact that I wasn't dead or a vegetable from it. At the time of sentencing when he'd gotten new counsel, I heard his defence lawyer gasp when she saw photos of my injuries in the courtroom.

At the time it looked like a random act. However when it came to sentencing, the full scale of legal incompetence became apparent.

My assailant, 35 at the time, had been in trouble with the law since the age of 22.

The first couple of instances of assault, including assaulting police, had been met with good behaviour bonds. The next couple of assaults, including another instance of assaalting police, got him community service. Finally there was a third instance of assaulting police, which wound up with him being on weekend detention with an alcohol ban. A ban he apparently decided didn't apply to him as he'd been drinking when he attacked me.

The matter, though deemed a GBH, was referred to the local court, rather than the district court. When the judge was giving sentencing, he commented that the case should have been referred to the district court and had he been presiding over it there, he would have given a sentence of 3 years. However as the case had gone to the local court, the maximum sentence he could give, factoring in 6 months probation, was 18 months.

I have no doubt that had I been a woman, prosecutors would have been baying for blood and the community would have been outraged. But as per usual, noone cares about violence against men, after all as men have no uterus, men are deemed to have no value in society and so violence against men is irrelevant.

People say the issue is women getting a free pass on the grounds of their genitalia. However I would argue that the problem, especially in cases where it is injustice perpetrated against men, it is more the fact that injustice against men is met with callous indifference, which drives such lenient sentencing.

This was posted in r/Worldnews as well. In the future, I think MRA's should post things in /r/news, /r/worldnews, /r/TIL, /r/Politics, etc. as they fit. The biggest issue facing men's rights is the lack of knowledge about it. Regarding this, most people still believe the Feminist propaganda about how women would never lie about this or that it only happens very rarely and so it's not worth worrying about. When you do post it to another sub, make a comment in the /r/mensrights post with a link to that post.
