Or it could mean that women are better at getting people to buy shit for them and pay their way. The people that those women get to shoulder their expenses? Men. Thus the extra credit burden.

I had a relative come into some money, recently. It was through rather tragic circumstances, but I think it was about $150k. Every male relative, except scumbag Walter, merely told him to be careful with it and discussed things he might want to invest it in (property, for example). His daughters and two of his nieces drained him dry within the year. They had their hand out before the settlement even went through.

The article is exploiting sexism to sell a story. Men having $26k debit vs women's $25k is not statistically important. America has a ~~credit~~ "I deserve" problem. The fact that the average American has ~$25k credit card/personnel/car debit is outrageous.

American's need to learn to buy what they can afford and only what you need. A smart phone is not a need. 100 cable channels not a need. Getting you nails done not a need. Vacation not a need. Cooking your children a healthy meal...need.

Edit: I am an American with zero debit.

I'm sure the fact that women spend more money than men has absolutely nothing to do with it. If I understand correctly, men make more money than women because patriarchy, women go and spend more money than men so if men have more of the money, clearly they are getting this money from men who either have to put up with nagging wives or worse, being labelled as domestic abusers for restricting their spouse's financial options...yet men are bad at managing money? Seems legit.

Differences in scholarships / college aids, women able to mooch, guys tend to make big purchases for spouse/family, guys fall into debt after divorce, and guys have on average less education.

To be honest, with all that, the fact that men only carry 4.3% more debt than women is surprising. I'd expect it to be more.

And by the way, I'm 100% not saying it is women's fault. Much of it is just people not making good financial decisions, whether male or female. Men are responsible for not falling into debt. But this article uses a difference of 4.3% and a complete disregard for the different circumstances men and women deal with to justify a wildly sexist sentiment. Absolute trash.

Delinquency seems to be less than half a percentage point of difference yet is mentioned prominently in the opening paragraph.
