I no longer trust "studies" by feminists. They've been caught lying too many times.

Ms Farley advocates a change in the law which is more “progressive”.

“Given the significant levels of sexually aggressive attitudes and behaviour found in sex buyers, a more progressive legal policy would be like that seen in Sweden and Norway… the Nordic model arrests sex buyers but decriminalises those in prostitution and provides them with exit services.”

Yes, and while we're at it let's arrest drug users but not drug dealers.

The Nordic model has been rejected to sex workers. They claim it simply drives them underground and makes their lives more dangerous. The overwhelming majority of sex workers want prostitution legalized. However feminists are more interested in demonizing men than helping women (and men -- there are plenty of male sex workers as well). Who cares if some women are beat by pimps, spread sexual disease and get abused/killed by maniacs? The important thing is that we portray all male sexuality as evil.

Feminists are insanely desperate for sex work to exclusively be seen as women being exploited by men. They would have it that every sex worker is forced into the trade by men and sees no material benefit from it.

Unfortunately reality is not a strong enough force to change their preconceived ideas.

[–]Ogg66 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well some would probably see it as some form of historical justice given their complete lack of historical knowledge if men were forced into it for a female time and servicing women desires.

[–]KingRobotPrince 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely. It's incredible how men can be judged for the significant crimes of a few individuals from history, or the society views of other generations. Prejudice, discrimination and collective punishment are totally OK where men are concerned.

We're basically leftists' emotional punching bags.

Trusting feminist studies on anything is like trusting coal companies climate change studies.

And women who dump their partners if he loses his job are whores.

[–]aircoft 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Gold-digging whores, at that.

[–]aokusman 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And assuming all sex workers are great and nice ladies is stupid.

[–]aircoft 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's like saying "people who work for minimum wage are 'similar' to slaves".

[–]KingRobotPrince 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It must be nice to be a gender where you are always either a victim of men or being liberated through sex.

If it suits them then women a being kick ass and taking back control of their sex lives. Equally when it suits them men are basically paedophiles for having normal sexual urges.

Can a man ever win in these systems? You're pretty much labelled a pervert just for having sexual desire as a man. Expected to turn it on or off as women demand it.

Ms Farley added that, women who are sex workers often tend to be “economically and ethnically marginalised”.

Oh poor women, if only something like exchanging non sexual services for money existed..

I just don't understand this attitude, if they are selling sex, that means they hold the privilege. The men who opt to pay for sex are clearly the victims of being born undesirable to have to work to pay for sex. Meanwhile these women were born so desirable people would pay to have sex with them..

How the fuck do they see women as victims here at all? This is one of the main reasons men are more likely to be homeless. Men's base value is nearly 0, men can't get a place to stay just because they are sexy (99% of men anyway).

As a woman, you literally have 1 more extra chance to not be homeless in the same situation a man would be thrown on the street and people pity the women?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

economically and ethnically marginalised

Really? The escorts near where I live seem to all be making 20 times the minimum wage if you take it on an hourly basis. Work for a couple of hours a day and you'd be part of the 1%.

[–]OnTheSlope 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How the fuck do they see women as victims here at all?

Because it benefits them and no one with any power will call them out on it

[–]fengpi 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

if only something like exchanging non sexual services for money existed..

No, it's too difficult. Working at a restaurant or laundromat or as a bank teller is too hard to get into. Also, a sex-worker must rely on her street-smarts, home-grown business savvy and razor-sharp wits to so much as survive in her tumultuous line of work. The work that she is in totally contrary to her own volition, through no agency of her own, the weak-minded sap who is too helpless to figure-out how to work a complex machine like a cash register or a Slushie dispenser without formal training. Which she never received or even thought to seek, again, through no fault of her own.

Women in sex work have no thoughts, except for the never-realized urge to stop doing it. But they can't stop, because once you're in, you're in for life unless a do-gooder intercedes upon your behalf.

[–]aircoft 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Makes about as much sense as the other shit the left spews....

[–]OnTheSlope 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course feminists want that to be the narrative, if they can't control men by controlling sex where are they going to get the majority of their power?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Why would a person CHOOSING to sell sex want their costumers to be arrested for buying from them? It'd be like if everyone that ate at McDonald's was arrested, but selling McDonald's was perfectly legal.

They'd go out of business, and it just makes no fucking sense to do it that way.

This may help those forced into it, but it would also help them if it were just legalized and thus regulated properly. Since either way you can't force someone to have sex for money against their will, or through threats of violence.

It would also help everybody who chooses to sell their body, and those who choose to purchase. But that's bad because men bad. Even though women buy sex too.

[–]fengpi 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

They'd go out of business, and it just makes no fucking sense to do it that way.

Well, the long-term aim is to transition the women into other lines of work. Because, obviously, these women were wholly unaware that other lines of work even existed, despite needing to interact with people working such jobs more or less on a daily basis.

Fucking is all they know, the poor victimy dears, who got into the trade completely by accident and are nonetheless forced to rely on their street-smarts, homespun craftiness and entrepreneurial cunning to make it through the day alive, these female modern-day Artful Dodgers.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I have no idea how people can think that attitude is progressive. Some people enjoy selling sex, and from at least some of them I've listened to it's not all about sex for the men either.

[–]fengpi 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, it's just that women have their own independent wills and drives, except when they do things that feminists don't like. Then it's the fault of men.

Wanna fill-out an application for law school? 100% free will. Wanna sign a contract to fuck on film? Oh, poor fainty-dainty flower under The Man's boot.

A 14 year old wants an abortion? Ah, a sacred decision which can't be questioned. Wait, she wants to get married? SHE'S TOO YOUNG!!!

Lather rinse repeat.

[–]sample_size_of_on1 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is such a fucked up subject.

When talking about the prostitutes: 'A woman should be able to do what she wants with her body. It being illegal is causing huge problems. We need to legalize it and they can form unions and have doctors and blahblahblah.'.

Gotcha. It actually IS a reasonable argument that I am not really opposed to.

But then we have this argument: 'Men who buy sex are sex offenders'.

Anyone else think the two ideologies are opposed?

I mean, I hate to break it to the feminists..... but if you want to legalize prostitution then that means accepting the clientele as well.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They only want Chad to get the chance to buy sex. If you're ugly you should give womyn your money and be happy you did!/s

[–]Leinadro 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Let me guess is this the same logic as the late 90s where people who download music were deemed "similar" to download child porn by the record industry?

You wouldn't download a prostitute would you???

This is "The Independent" a feminist man hating paper. this is coupled with dubious research. They wanted a result and went to look for subjective evidence to support that research.

Sex offences are lower in Germany, Australia Austria Hungary and New Zealand all countries that have legalised brothels.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

dude, they chose to become prostitutes. they want to get clients, thats why theyre there. otherwise theres like a billion other jobs they could do

[–]Ogg66 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some of he "findings" of this are just bleeding obvious, its obvious that some men and women who pay for sex are doing so to because they just want to have selfish sex. The notion that they can change laws and make it disappear is grounded on sheer folly, there have been efforts to ban or get rid of it for centuries, it won't work. Surely the best thing to do is adopting a least harm model, regardless of your view on the sex trade. Legalising and putting in place properly funded safe guarding could stop things like trafficking, abuse etc, if they have licensing for the premises and spot checks are made to make sure all there are legally working it would go a long way to stopping forced prostitution. I have thought looking at the trade the best idea would be for the people in any establishment to be in a workers cooperative, so they are not employed by a "pimp" also if decent sized they would be able to employ some form of security. A lot of the issues and violence surrounding it are caused by it being forced underground.

[–]omegaphallic 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As someone who has been a client, the idea that we don't care is fucking bullshit, look some are assholes, but many do care. I certainly do, I care a great deal about the women I've been sexual intimate, even for pay, I cherish the memories.

If men didn't care and a connection didn't matter the GFE wouldn't be the huge thing it is.
