As a lifelong scouter I was pissed until I better read the info. Girls can enter Cub scouts but in their own packs. Girls programs for older girls will be announced later but will also be separate.

Venture scouts is a separate program under the BSA banner and is already co-ed basically the only reason this doesn't already fit the bill is because it doesn't involve a path to the eagle rank. Most likely the BSA is just going to add a path to eagle to the venture program and tweek the age range to more aptly parallel the Boy Scouts.

Which is fine. The male space of the boy scouts is not in danger. Really this isn't as big a deal as the news is making it out to be. In fact if this pulls girls from the girl scouts into a program run by the BSA which is in my opinion just a far superior organization, it may even be a good thing.
