Very interesting. For instance, if this is such a safe and healthy procedure, why does a baby need to be in the peak of health to undergo it?

the days passed agonizingly before the appointment. Nothing I ate had any taste, I felt constantly depressed, and I cried myself to sleep for night after night, haunted with the notion that I was somehow not good enough for my parents and that somebody was going to take sharp things to my private parts because of it.

This is the kind of trauma a child should never have to go through. It's literally no different than any other physical or sexual child abuse when it's done without a medical necessity (which is very rare in general and almost non-existent in young children anyway)

Some people argue "this is why it's done when they're infants and not old enough to remember", which is just like say it's okay to mutilate or sexually abuse infants because they don't remember it

And as he described, between the decreased sensitivity and the risk of taking too much of the skin and the calloused glans, even if the boy doesn't remember it happening, there're always scars left behind

I was premature. My father waited for me to get strong enough to do this to me.
