I have a Great Dane, not a breed seen too often but very noticeable and grabs attention.

Danes in general are hesitant around new men and mines no exception.

There have been so many times where they bend over fast and get in her face (she only let's me do that cus we play fight) and will back up, fur stands up and comes to me for safety. I tell em "hey, try not to do that, she doesn't like it"... The amount of times I get people basically telling me "no I won't do what you say, I'll still startle / scare your dog" is ridiculous. A petsmart employee has even had to step in and tell a guy to leave my dog alone.

My Dane loves strangers for about 10 minutes then she has had enough, I know almost exactly when she hits that point and will keep people from interacting with my dog and it's crazy how many people take that as a personal attack... Like Gtfo.

She's also an ESA so not full service but I respect working dogs. I'll make sure I have my dog atleast 5 feet away from working dogs unless the person says it's ok for the puppers to say hello to their working dogs which some have.

As someone who has a close friend with a service dog, the guy was pretty rude. He could've just said "sorry, he's working as he's trained to." There was no need for her attitude but the guy was a prick about it.
