Men say: “be humble”. Women say “We are capable of absolutely everything and should encourage each other”. What’s up with that?

A few months ago someone posted a photo of a street poster on a traffic post that said (paraphrased) Everything you see was built by men

and the whole of reddit attacked us and lost their hair over this.

Men can't even brag about their accomplishment of building city infrastructure because it offends women and their feminist white knight manginas.

It seems like the traditional gender roles for both men and women were rooted in sacrifice: men sacrificed safety/personal happiness to be a provider of security and resources while women sacrificed personal ambitions to be a caretaker of children and the home. So both sexes were encouraged to be humble (seems to me like men's comparative reproductive disposability particularly encouraged men to put the group's well-being above their own; see prevalence of hazing of new members in traditional male professions and the discouragement of selfish complaining).

However, with the liberation of women from their traditional gender role since the 1960's, and the subsequent view of the traditional male gender role as "privilege," female culture seems to nurture women having a chip on their shoulder, that they should raise the flag of women above the patriarchy's constant efforts to put them back in the kitchen.

In other words, feminists think they have to fight men to have their share...while men are actually largely stuck in the traditional role of putting their contribution to society/their family before pursuit of personal happiness.

Women's right's activists want female superiority. Men's right's activists want equality.

I do acknowledge that some of both groups do not fit these generalizations.

I tell my kids (one boy, one girl) they can do or be anything at all and nothing is impossible. But they need to let their actions speak for them and not brag, and certainly never put others down to bring yourself up.

I think those two statements are completely different.

Telling each other that we are 'capable of absolutely everything and should encourage each other' does not mean that you are NOT humble, it just means that you are helping each other's self-confidence and making sure that we all don't underestimate our own potential.

Not being humble, on the other hand, simply means that you are bragging, usually because of your accomplishments or something that you are capable of doing.

Personally, I've never heard specifically only men, or only women, say these things. I've been brought up and taught to be a humble individual, but also know that I am capable of achieving my dreams and ambitions in life.
