I'm seeing more and more of this: feminists using "mansplaining" accusations to deal with being publicly proven wrong

Imagine the outrage & hysteria if an article like this was written about women: "So thirsty I could drink the pool"

No surprise. This is like many other groups who used free speech in the middle of the last century to advance their causes. Once they got their way and eventually became "the man," they decided that they didn't want anyone using their own tools against them.

It turns out people are inherently selfish regardless of gender, who knew?

[–]bonjellu 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah shit's fucked and now lot of em don't even want a goddam discussion lmao that's frickin' crazy

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why do women have such a problem with free speech-or is it just feminists?

Is it because they're no good at facts or calm logical debate?

[–]killcat -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's mostly "progressives" they all tend to be feminists as well though.

The MRM, like all rights movements which are supported by only a minority of the population, depends heavily on free speech.

Feminism is committed to silencing the MRM and is opposed to free speech in general. Unfortunately, it seems that a large number of women share feminism's opposition to free speech. This is a serious headwind which the MRM will need to overcome.

"It is a well-known axiom on the free speech side of the aisle that the solution to bad speech is more speech. This means that citizens ought to thoughtfully engage with the opposition, and defeat the ideas they find offensive with rational arguments and persuasion. Everyone gets their say, and those with the better arguments and evidence will likely win the day.

The question remains – why are women so ready to throw away free speech rights? "

She answered her own question

[–]xNOM 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So how did college women answer this malformed question? 64% of the women polled picked diversity and inclusion as most important, while 35% chose protecting free speech. The college men answered it in reverse with 61% choosing to protect free speech and 39% prioritizing diversity and inclusion.

Being nice is the most important thing. Toxic femininity.

To me, over the last 5 yrs the most noticeable difference in Society as a man is this influx of new societal-norms manipulating mens behaviour, there are things you cannot say now that were inoffensive and acceptable 5yrs ago.

The article was interesting, facts confirming what we already knew are always nice.

"A quick Google search will pull up hundreds of articles positing that American women do not have the same free speech rights as men, and theorizing that men only support free speech rights because it gives them an unfair advantage. But as French points out, marginalized groups are the groups most empowered by free speech. And what proponents of restrictions on speech don’t seem to understand is that any restrictions they place on the speech they don’t like today can (and probably will, if history is any indication) be turned around and used against them tomorrow."

I loved this paragraph.

[–]Meyright 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is worrying

[–]woodie_wood 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Useful idiots

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

While this is sad and disturbing (both of the gendered responses to "safe spaces" especially disturbing, that's pretty much segregation!) it is not surprising.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Feminists are ready to throw away free speech, because free speech has already helped them maximally and they need to repress anyone else who might gain control/power through free speech.

[–]Yndrd1984 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly.

When your cause is in the minority and struggling to make its case, free speech is the foundation of Western civilization and only those who have no argument would take the cowardly route and try to censor it.

When your cause becomes the status quo, hate speech is an immoral attack on everything that is good in the world and keeping those ideas away from impressionable people is a moral duty.

You got so many upvotes in this sub for telling me that your enlightened perspective is not anti-feminism, it’s pro-men. God you incels are just the whiniest losers on the planet.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Did you even read that post? I criticized feminism as contributing to men’s rights issues and repressing the movement...

Now an incel is an involuntary celibate person complaining about inability to get sex. A men’s rights activist is one raising awareness of men’s rights issues.

[–]TheOnlyFP 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even though Women lead, it doesn't mean they are the only one. The link tells us that men are alway about 10% behind but still in the same direction.

This is more of a societal issue than a gendered issue if you want my opinion.
